If this was 20 years ago I agree Congress would've done something. But now there's just so much partisanship that one party just does stuff to spite the other or make sure they don't get any "wins", even when a policy has 80% support from democrats and republicans. The only person in the Senate is Graham and the only possible person in the WH is Kushner that may speak on behalf of dreamers. That's not reassuring by any means, especially when there's people working against Graham and Kushner in the Senate and in the WH.

Now days, you stop bills from passing by adding stuff to it where people can't reach a consensus anymore. It's also unfortunate that it's exactly how Trump likes to negotiate. He'll ask for a lot of stuff (but in my opinion he's willing to compromise) but the hard liners keep pushing him to ask for more and more to the point where dems don't think Trump is serious. It irritates him more so he'll ask for more and more and the vicious cycle continues.

The fact that the republicans can't see taking the DACA issues away from dems during the election year helps them a lot shows me how partisan the system really has become.

I really do hope something positive happens. USA act or better is addressing the DACA problem. Anything less is worse than the current state of DACA.
I think some of you forgot that legislation almost passed when DACA was cancelled for a brief period. Negotiations went down the drain when the courts brought DACA back. Also, remember the images the news showed every day of people crying about not being able to study and work. Same thing will happen, and something will pass.

Like I have always said, I do not expect legislation to pass right after DACA is cancelled. Last time some were able to renew one last time and other were left out. Once legislation passes the "new program" will not be implemented immediately, so everyone should be ready to deal with at least 6 months of unemployment give or take.

Kind of like when they showed US citizens at soup lines and the government shutdown was resolved immediately?

Get it out of your head that pictures are gonna change anything. Americans don't care. As long as the economy is going well, it's background noise.

What’s wrong with you guys? Good news? It seems that all of you have forgotten that Brett Kavanaugh was given a life long term as a judge in the Supreme Court. We cannot survive another Trump term and that is a fact. Pelosi just passed the dream act not long ago just for political points, if by some miracle it could pass the senate, are you naive enough to think Trump would strike his pen on that piece of paper?. Do you really think they care about our “hardship” they have kids locked up in cages without basic human needs, some pets have it better than them. May the odds be in our favor.

The democrats first walked away when Trump agreed to 25 bil for DACA then he changed the deal to add his "4 pillars". This is killing a bill by adding more stuff to it. That was when democrats first walked away. Remember Trump went as far as asking for removal of birthright citizenship, which means you have to change the constitution. That is impossible so it's hard to take him seriously. The democrats in the Senate forced a weekend government shutdown so McConnell will bring some bills to a vote and if you recall, the most popular one (I think it was the USA ACT by Susan Collins) that gives DACA people status, the DHS sent out a memo at like 2 AM saying it's bad so a lot of senators got scared and it didn't pass the Senate. Trump's own DACA solution got the least amount of Senate votes. They were supposed to debate immigration for a week but didn't start until like the 2nd or 3rd day into the week. The democrats stopped trying to work with republicans after that.

Of course, after the courts came in it solidified the position that democrats won't work with republicans but they tried to, at least twice.

People crying because they lost their jobs? What about parents crying because their kids are taken from them? Nothing so far has been done about that, why would you assume people would do something about losing a job? Morally speaking, a lot more issues has to be addressed before the worst thing you see on TV is dreamers losing jobs or not being able to study because a lot has happened then.

Suddenly losing hundreds of thousands of jobs would harm the economy. I hope something gets done since it wouldn't just benefit me, It seems like the perfect storm is being set up and the outcomes are either really rewarding or devastatingly tragic.

People blaming the courts for stopping trump from ending daca are plain ignorant. 700k losing their jobs won’t imoact actual voting citizens. Trumps tariffs will have more of a negative impact to this economy than a bunch of man children losing daca.

USC were fine before daca and they will be fine after it’s gone so get this if daca goes away, Congress will act mentally out of here

The courts are why so many (2Face including) were able to renew again.

I should also mention that there's 3 people standing in the way of a policy that has 80% public support.

McConnell, Miller, and ultimately Trump.

All three are up for re-election in 2020 so they'll have their own self interest (I know Miller isn't elected but if Trump is gone so is he). They care about getting re-elected the most. Are they going to take the route of removing the DACA issue so dems can't campaign on it or are they going to take the hard line stance to get votes? Feels like the latter will happen. Whatever they do, it's them trying to get re-elected.
