A couPle of questions I have. First, how much does the DMV charge for a behind the wheel test. Second, does it matter who takes you to the DMV as a cal licensed driver.? I will be taking my car that is insured with my name but not my uncle, the person that will be taking me to the DMV.

$31 here in California for the whole process (written test and behind the wheel test)

You can take anyone as long as they have a license. It doesn't matter under who the car and insurance is in... They don't care

They only asked me for insurance and registration they didnt even talk to the person that took me. Drive test was pretty easy. Just stop at limit lines. Dont do anything highly dangerous. Signal and look over your shoulder each time you signal.

just came back from DMV and I was told that since I'm over 18 I can go with any licensed driver, the previous person I asked told me the driver had to be over 25 but I guess she assumed I was under 18

How long til a permit expires for a first time driver? I mean from the time you pass the written test to when you take the behind the wheel test? Weeks?

After you pass the written test, the permit is good for a year. If you don't take or pass the behind the wheel exam within that year, then you have to apply, pay and take the written test all over again.

Ok so out of curiosity for those of you that have gotten the ID/DL for 5 to 6 years. What Dmv have you gone to? I know a few of us think it might be a matter of luck but maybe its just at certain DMV's that DO give them for the Full term.
