Dying for a country that treats you like a second class citizen? Thanks but no thanks! I was at the republican debate last night at the university of South Florida in Tampa, FL. You should have heard all the racist comments rednecks were making when they started talking about Cuba and immigration.

I've given myself 2 more years- either marry a USC or go back home with a college degree.

What good is a green card if these MOFOs make you stand in the front lines and die? My life is worth more than a green card.

^ Same, if you don't want it then you are more than welcome not to apply, that's if this so called proposal passes.

I'm sorry I agree, if you want it really bad then fighting for it isn't out of the question. College doesn't compare to getting up at 430 in the morning, getting rifles, crawling in shit all day and getting yelled at with all of your worldly possessions locked away in basic training. And you can leave college if you don't like it, you do that with the Army then you are AWOL and that stays on your record your whole life. If they tell you to drop and do pushups and you say no, they take away half of two weeks pay and make you scrub dishes for two weeks. You say no to that, you will get outprocessed with a less than honorable discharge and even if they let you stay in the US, no one is going to hire you with that.

Also this revelation puts the pressure right back to Obama. He might even be forced to try to cram in the military Dream Act himself, the Republicans would sure be inclined to vote on it as to not be labelled as liars that could potentially cost them 2012.

Sorry fellas but i agree our lives are worth alot more than a green card. I wouldn't mind enlisting in the military if world war III broke out and we had to fight another Hitler. I would die for this country because it has given me so much-- it's the land where my family and friends live and I'd be willing to defend it . However, I'm not going to risk my life fighting a sensless war (i.e. Iraq war) whose sole purpose is to just make war industries (probably owned by rich republicans) richer. No way. No thanks.

^This might be the only positive thing about this. If Gingrich is the nominee, Obama is going to have a short window of time to do something that actually makes the immigrant population realize that he is serious about DREAM Act/immigration reform. I'm sure many people would be willing to risk their vote on Gingrich, despite his temper tantrums.

Look guys, enlisting in the military is a very serious decision we all have to decide when the time is right. For now there is no reason to be so worked up about this. We do not know for sure that a Dream Act confined to Military aspects will even pass.

I do agree that making the military the only option is indeed unfair. There has to be other ways other than military motives. In terms of college not being enough is flat our ridiculous. Specially us dreamers, going to college is such a unique experience for us. Not only do we all have to work our butss off to have satisfactory grades but on top of that have the burden of worrying what could happen tomorrow or any second such as people knocking in your door to serve you deportation papers. All of this can have a profound effect on our Psychological state of mind and it will take its toll.

I don't go through as much hardships as some of the Dreamers on this forum and even I think I'm loosing it from time to time, so to say that going to college isn't enough is complete ludicrous.

I have a substantial amount of respect for those Dreamers who live here and still attempt to get a degree. Though they may not risk their lives, I believe that them living their lives here is a war in itself.

However, on any note it is way too early to tell if this Military option will even get through to become law, just from this thread it already faced scrutiny how much more when the debates progress? I believe something has to happen soon that can ease all of our situations. It may not be what we want and it may not be given in a silver platter so to speak, but I do believe something will happen soon.
