i could give less of a fuck about federal benefits to be honest. sure it would be nice getting help paying for school, but im not too concerned about it. I'm happy with driving, working, traveling and going to school legally. If i have to pay full price for school than be it, at least i could go to college.

So what you are seeking is federal benefits. You are feeding the machine, the hate machine.

^This.

I think we should all read the bill really well before drawing any conclusions and also remember that when it does pass it will most likely not end up looking like this when it reaches Mr. Obama's desk.

And if in the end we won't be able to qualify for financial aid then so be it. There's been other DREAMers out there that have been able to obtain a degree from graduate school's! So it's not impossible and they didn't even have the help of DACA imagine that!

Section 505
Quote:
"an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State (or a political subdivision) for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less an amount, duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident."
From the Senates bill

Quote:
3) INELIGIBILITY FOR PUBLIC BENEFITS.—
25 An alien who has been granted registered provisional
91
EAS13500 S.L.C.
1 immigrant status under this section is not eligible
2 for any Federal means-tested public benefit (as such
3 term is defined in section 403 of the Personal Re4
sponsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation
5 Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1613)).

Section 505 is just saying that illegal aliens cannot get instate tuition on the basis that illegal aliens cannot claim residence while being illegal. And thus are not eligible for instate tuition. Then it talks about "such a benefit" so that such benefit is instate tuition.

the Senate bills just repeals this and adds that RPI can establish residency for the purpose of instate tuition, so really, with RPI you can now get the such benefit of instate tuition but not other benefits including Financial Aid

I am happy with the proposed bill. RPI is not enough? Buddy, I worked my ass through college. The only scholarship I received as an undergad was for the GRE examination. That was it.
