RIGHT!!!. if they don't want to give us citizenship, ok give us a student visa, once it's expired, i get myself out of here, along with my degree, and contribute to another country. simple as that. if they don't want to reward illegal inmingration

Hello All, I am a long time reader but never actively posted here.
I was very dissapointed yesterday with the outcome of the vote.
I don't know if anybody has ever brought this up, but I think the 06 marches really had a negative impact.
People were marching around the country waving flags from all over the world.
It was all over CNN, Fox and other networks this just caused people who before never cared about illegal immigration to wake up and take notice. For example some old lady in North Dakota where there are hardly any mexicans saw this on TV and became more active. I know alot of "chicanos" in Texas who are against giving paisanos papers, I know a WWII veteran who frequents the VFW post and he says that it seems like that's all they talk about. I don't know about you but things are changing, just look at Europe and how some countries are passing laws against their illegals immigrants.

Last and not least I would like to state that if some terrorist strikes again in the USA, this will get worse!

Before 9-11 people with a tourist visa were able to enroll in school and take up 2 courses, after that they changed the rules. My friend use to take classes this way... Most of the posts here talk seem to only center around when the next president comes in blah..blah...look at Bush and Vicente Fox before 911 it seemed like a CIR was about to happen. A few months later 911 and almost 8 years later NADA! Like I said it just takes some terrorist act to greatly change things AGAIN! And that terrorist better not have come into the USA from Mexico, because things will get bad for US!

sorry for the typos....

What was sad about the 06 marches is that they could have had a really positive impact if it wasn't for the freaking mexican flags everywhere. I know a kid explained it to me as demonstrating that even though they were from mexico - they were here and part of the united states. But that isn't what came across. Stupid.

But on the plus side - remember how awful the bill was that spurred the protests ? That got shot down, I assume because they saw the number of people. It was pretty amazing.

those marches were so stupid!! i remember kids walking out of class, and when they were asked why they were walking out they said "because we are mexicans." they didnt even know what they were marching for.

I can't believe the leaders of that movement didn't advise them to take it down. But seriously, the Raza community can be so insolent sometimes in trying to get reform. We have to do this in a humble way that respects Americans everywhere. Flying those flags won't help us reach our goal. And the worst thing is, it doesn't represent every aspect of illegal immigration... Not everybody is from Mexico or are farm workers.
