The choice isn't whether Dream will be a stand alone or with CIR. We had a chance with DREAM as a stand alone and that failed (even though we got a majority). Realistically, the next time we see DREAM is with the next CIR. I'd love to get another shot with DREAM as a stand alone though.

Advocating the CIR is in our interest but not at the expense of DREAM. We've been over this so many damn times at this point and yet we still need to explain it to people.

Every attempt of combining DREAM with any other immigration legislation has failed miserably. The most votes we ever got was as a standalone. All of us will be FAR more useful to our families if we are LEGAL than if we have to wait another decade for our whole family to become legal through some one broad CIR. Chances are that during that time we will all either be caught, leave, or get thrown out by some new bill.

If you're willing to give up having an education until you're 30 and work construction until then then go ahead and go on the damn crusade for a broad CIR. If however you're human and would like things...ANY things to get moving in the positive direction then you'd be smart to recognize that putting ourselves in the same boat as cherry pickers doesn't benefit either us or the cherry pickers.

Equality and all is very nice but I don't have have the financial resources or psychological strength to wait until I'm 60 for a nice CIR for everyone.
I agree.. I think the fastest and most effective way of beginning to solve this issue is by making clear distinctions about our movements. Not saying one is better than another; we should definetly support one another, but by passing DREAM we are all in a better position to help. I think after going through what we've gone through, the majority of us will still be fighting for our cause. By then we'll actually have a voice for CIR

Listen to the last sentence... I wonder what he means by that... Sounds like he's okay with people trying to become legal. Oh well.. The fact is that he's unclear on this issue.

I oppose and will never allow amnesty. I passionately rejected the amnesty bill that President Bush and Sen. McCain tried to ram through Congress this summer after secret meetings of an under-the-radar cabal of amnesty-loving senators.

I opposed the misnamed DREAM Act, which was a nightmare because it would have put us on the slippery slope to amnesty for all. Because once we open that door even a crack, we'll never get it closed again.

FUCK HUCK!!!
Why does Huck give an option for those to register with DHS and try to pursue a path to citizenship at the end of his you tube video? Is he proposing some type of legals status for the undocumented population already in the United States?

Uhm... I thought Huck supported the DREAM Act from what I gathered from his statements during the YouTube debate...

No, He means we'll take the 10-year ban out, and let you leave the country with no penalties, so you can apply to come to the US legally. Now there's no guarantee that your visa will be accepted and you will be let in.

It's kind of applying to get your life back, with no guarantees that that may happen.

I don't see how he could ever win the national election unless the Dems do the same thing they do every election and nominate the biggest idiots. I don't think any of the high electoral point states are ready for bible study at work. lol
