Gentleman and ladies, this is why we will never become legal if Eva is right. Democrats denying Republicans the bill or vice versa. Perfect example.

My sentiments exactly. I'm crossing my fingers that he doesn't cancel DACA on Day 1. I hope that he will at least let the EADs run their course. In the interim, everyone should have a Plan B.

I know we have heard that Canada is not an option, but I've got a consultation with a lawyer coming up to discuss routes for immigration (refugee status, skilled worker, etc). Whether the news is positive or negative or even in between, I will let you guys know.

Those of us 29+ may not be able to sit here for another 4 years with the hope that Trump might be a good president. He wants to deport 2-3 million undocumented aliens...calculations are that less than 1 million have criminal records so guess what that means? He's going to be deporting parents away from their children and tearing families apart to meet their goal.

I for one would rather not be caught up in the fray.

Fresh, do you have source on less than 1 million have criminal records?

You're making an assumption that he will deport non criminals to meet his quota. I do not believe that.

There are 1.9 million "removable criminal aliens" this number could include permanent residents, folks with TPS, etc. There are only 820,000 undocumented aliens with criminal records. A far cry from that 3 million goal.

He refers to undocumented aliens.
Trump cites federal data, saying there are at least 2 million criminal aliens in the country. This number comes from a Department of Homeland Security fiscal 2013 report saying there were 1.9 million “removable criminal aliens.”

But this figure refers to a broader population of non-U.S. citizens with criminal convictions. It includes undocumented immigrants and people who are lawful permanent residents, or those who have temporary visas. Lawfully present people in the United States who are convicted of serious crimes are subject to removal from the country.

The exact number of illegally present non-citizens within that 1.9 million figure is not clear. Calculations by the Migration Policy Institute, a think tank that doesn’t take positions on immigration legislation, show about 820,000 (43 percent) of the 1.9 million are unauthorized immigrants with criminal convictions.- Source

Yep I just found it.

Where is the less than 1 million you mentioned?

Edit:
This is confusing. The article says 1.9 million people are undocumented criminals. Then it says only 49% are convicted.

So the other 51% are not convicted yet?

Edit2: Fresh, i will create a thread so we can discuss this.

There is a category of "criminal aliens" which includes undocumented aliens, Permanent Residents and other categories of beneficiaries (i.e. TPS).

Of that 1.9 million, only 820, 000 are undocumented/illegal immigrants.

820,000 is less than 1 million. So, when he says he will deport 2-3 million undocumented criminals, the calculations from even ICE do not support that many being currently present in the country. To meet that target, he would need to deport an additional 2,180,000 undocumented aliens currently in the U.S.

He also said criminal aliens. I bet when he said undocumented people he included those people, hence where he got the source.
