Maybe, but 237 R vs 194 D with 2 R vaccines is still a tough battle If we can pull in 15 or so we can have a good leverage in the House.

I hope not. The funding bill will likely not be a short term resolution like the previous agreement. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but the spending bill is to fund the government for the next fiscal year. The continuing resolution expires December 8th.

So, if Schumer and Pelosi cave and the Republicans are able to fund the government through 2018, we're screwed because there will be no incentive to pass DREAM Act or some other compromise before March. The Republicans need Dems to pass the spending bill in both the House and the Senate. So, it is up to Democratic leadership to use that leverage to get something out of this. They can fund CHIP, attach DREAM Act, etc. But they must have the guts to shutdown the government if it comes down to it.

This. If Government funding passes in December without the Dream Act, there will be zero incentive by Republicans to pass a dreamer relief bill. At best we would get a permanent DACA with border security, no citizenship, end to chain migrati0n and end to visa lottery.

The issue with Rs is that they are three different factions wearing a single sweater:
1. Bible thumping Evangelicals
2. Tea Party Deficit Hawks
3. The slightly more sane moderates

We don't need to pull anyone in. We just need those three to not all agree on the spending bill. The sizable tea party contingent might just demand unacceptable levels of cuts, pissing off the old people, which is something the moderates won't go for, so if there's enough in-fighting Ryan might have to buy democrat votes to get a bill across.

The senate gets a bit more murky depending on if the filibuster is available or not. If it is - it's a slam dunk since Rs have a hard time mustering up all their 52 senators, a few things passed with Pence breaking a tie because Collins and Murkowski would vote against the party. If not then depends who we have. We have 3 Republican Dream Act cosponsors (there's also Collins and McCain and maybe a few more moderates). The major question is if they'd tilt to us or not. Flake is retiring so he might say fuck it and join democrats against the budget bill, problem is that if there's no way to filibuster we might need two more and Collins and Murkowski are a major question mark.

Another issue added to the plate is TPS being phased out for some long term residents. We will see how that goes, but it will definitely end up in the immigration debate.

This government needs to shut down completely and forever, and return power to the people and their elected state representatives.

We would've already been legal by now. Not to mention all the federal leeches would stay off my tax dollars.

Not even that, the US is almost impossible to invade from sea. Behind every blade of grass there would be an American patriot.

We don't even need national defense other than a few nukes these days.

nah, you act like invading the USA being invaded by sea is the only form of warfare and nuclear proliferation is the answer to everything. we only need nuclear capabilities as a deterrent, we dont actually have to use it.

we still need functioning national defense like the fbi, cia, and other intelligence agencies and we still need the armed forces.

Actually you could collapse the fbi and cia into one office, but they should be severely curtailed from running loose and unchecked wreaking havoc on democratically elected governments.

Armed forces arent needed except to fulfil the needs of israel. They should be cut, let israel die for its own needs.
