No!...Crap!...I've only been here for 4 years!!!!!!!!!

If it passes before December 2009 (then it'd be 5 years) then I wouldn't qualify????...I'd die.

What if they took out a path to citizenship and we could only get a green card, would that be fine with you guys?

you would qualify after december. it doesnt say you're not eligible if you've been here less than 5 years at the date the bill was passed.. it's at the date you apply. which in your case you would apply on january 2010.

What is this "new" reality?

Since when did Dream provide financial aid?

Quote:
SEC. 10. HIGHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE.
  • Notwithstanding any provision of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1001 et seq.), with respect to assistance provided under title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1070 et seq.), an alien who adjusts status to that of a lawful permanent resident under this Act shall be eligible only for the following assistance under such title:
    • (1) Student loans under parts B, D, and E of such title IV, subject to the requirements of such parts.
      (2) Federal work-study programs under part C of such title IV, subject to the requirements of such part.
      (3) Services under such title IV, subject to the requirements for such services.
So the other side comes up with a lie that they repeat it over and over and over and instead of countering their lies with the truth we should all just give in? To me altering Dream is nothing short of trying to take the easy way out.

Trying to appease the other side is not going to work. Why are we even focusing on anyone like Sessions or their ilk?

Dream DID NOT fail because it is a bad bill, Dream failed because we failed to educate enough people about what it really is.

Lets do our job and stop trying to take the easy way out as there is no such thing when it comes to this.

Mods, can we get a thread lock please?

This thread is counter-productive to the purpose of this site.

LOL.

This has to be one of the WORST ideas I've ever heard, during my entire time on DAP and COSA, combined.

I know it's just a suggestion but jesus..... what's next, only 5'10" or taller may qualify?

EDIT:

I take that back, this tops it all:

As I've mentioned before, the core idea behind the original post is something for us to discuss, but this thread is FUBAR-ed from all them "Can I qualify????" and ridiculous, absurd ideas on how to package Dream to be more attractive to the opponents. Jesus christ some people....

I agree that the lack of accurate information is our biggest enemy. I think we should start organizing ourselves both by region and by tasks. One of these tasks is fact-checking, maybe we should dedicate a section on this website to that too? Just an idea.

That is absurd... Limit the pool of Dream applicants to those certain jobs? Some of us can't understand math and science if our lives depended on it and you think it's a great idea to exclude people who underperform in those areas? Ridiculous...
