If anyone in this thread can help me out with the following questions that would be great. I am looking to study abroad (Canada) for a period of 1 year. My immediate question are:

1. Do I apply for AP once I have been accepted into the program or after being approved of a visa?
2. Do I have to apply for the visa from my home country or from here in the US?

I am meeting with a lawyer in about two weeks time, but I just wanted to know if someone here has had similar experiences.

Thank you very much.
At this time it is not recommended to study abroad until we see what Trump will do once he takes office. If you are abroad and DACA is cancelled there is a good chance you will not be allowed back in even with AP.

Apply to AP after because you will use your acceptance as proof for the application.

Assuming the country you are going needs a visa from your nationality, you will need to get a Visa from your country.

You do not need a lawyer for this. Please be careful of lawyers. They are there to scam you. Asks questions here if you are unsure and we can try to help you.

Lastly, what Swim19 is true. It is not recommended to head out of the country until Trump says what he wants to do with us.

Just remember that this is all up to you if you want to take the risk. I would still apply to the program and see what will Trump do.

My packet was a duplicate of what i mailed in . I didn't have to translate anything my documents were in English. I did get a money order but they did accept cards

*** IMPORTANT AP FOR MULTIPLE ENTRIES***

So as you can read, I was approved for AP for multiple entries between 12.1.16 and 12.1.17. I received 2 papers in the mail that looked identical and both were to be presented to the inspecting agent upon return. Well on DEC 04th 2016 I came back to the US with no problem. Agent stamped my AP and sent me on my way (as you can see on my previous post).

However!!!! I was under the impression that I can use the same document with the stamp for all other future entries. OHHH SHIT WAS I WRONG!!! This past 12/17/16 I attempted to re-enter again and although my AP states in red letters that I can go inn and out between the dates of 12.1.16 & 12.1.17, THEY DENIED MY ENTRY because they stated I needed a new AP paper every single time I come back in the country. WTF?!?!

I was sent to secondary after the initial officer at 1st inspection said he couldnt allow me in with a stamp of 12/4 because I was only paroled for one day and if I wanted to return they needed to stamp a new AP every time. So he sent me to secondary and was instructed to go in the office once I parked, so I did. Once inside, my fears become a solid reality. As I approached the front desk, the agent asked if my AP needed a stamp and I said that I already had the stamp from 2 weeks ago. She looked at the paper and with a smile said " I'm sorry, I cant let you in the country and their in nothing I or anyone here can do to help you"

My soul was shaken as I literally seen my life disappear with each one of her words. As I returned to the vehicle my cousin waited patiently for my answer. Once in the vehicle I told him the news and he was in shock as well.

However, the officer outside at the secondary inspection thought that when I went inside the building I had gone to get my paper stamped for the first time (which I did not know). So after 2 minutes of sitting there thinking of what we could do, the outside agent approaches my vehicle and asks me if I had gottn the stamp for my AP document, to what I responded that I did ( FUCK IT). Yes I lied! Well kinda. I told him that I walked inside and that the agent inside told me that the stamp was good enough as long as I traveled inside the dates indicated wich was 12.1.16 to 12.1.17. He bought it!!! He asked to see the paper and when he seen the 12/4 stamp mentioned that he thought it was only good for that day but if the agent inside said it was ok, then it must be ok. He cleared my yellow slip for inspection and told me I was good to go. The longest 50 foot drive took place from secondary to the exit gate. But once that door opened, I WAS GONE!!!

Anyways, I have an appt with USCIS on 1/4/17 so they can correct my paper. I hope this is useful because I dont want any of my fellow DREAMERS to ever have to go through this experience. I am lucky to be here today and all I can say is, please be informed.

Wow. Super scary experience, thanks for sharing? But your only reason for being denied was not having a new Advance parole paper for them to stamp, would it have worked if you had gotten someone to send you your other AP documented to try again to enter the country, so you wouldn't be stuck across the border. Just wondering? Regardless I'm glad you were allowed to reenter the country.

I don't know if "allowed" is the correct word to use. Plus they lied to an immigration officer to be allowed entry into the US. I would most definitely speak to an attorney before your appointment.

I've never crossed the border in a vehicle, but wouldn't somebody go out there with you to make sure you didn't just try to make your way in anyways?

Isnt the CBP responsible for entry/departure records and only they can correct it? Anyways if it's not sorted out, you should consult with lawyer

This!

On another note, I wonder if there is another loophole for converting EWI without the use of DACA.
