before you painted it you should have rough sanded, cleaned with water, dried, then cleaned with acetone(or paint stripper). Do that atleast twice. Then set a primer, wait two days, then paint it 1 light coat every 6 hours. Do like 4-5 coats and it should last. Otherwise expect the paint to fall/crack/flake off.

For removing stickers use a razor blade, then gasoline on a rag to remove the gunk left behind.
