why is canada asking for IELTS? Never saw anything of the sort. I'm thinking i'll ask for a regrade on the writing portion. There's a good chance I'm not gonna get the extra 1.5 points, but even if it's half a point I get a refund for the regrade fee.

I thought you always had to prove English proficiency just the way to go about it changed. Now everyone, even if English is your first language and you grew up and went to school in America or UK or Australia etc you still have to take IELTS. Before you could either take IELTS or write an essay to prove English language profiencey. I heard they changed it because of too much fraud going on with the essays.

I believe you just need fingerprint and the name on your passport to go on the application.

Is anyone looking at visa 476 for Australia?

Requirements:

1. At least 4 year Engineering degree from 1 of the following university:

Arizona State University - Tempe (USA)
Colorado School of Mines (USA)
Ecole de Technologie Superieure (Canada)
Laurentian University (Canada)
McGill University (Canada)
Michigan Technological University (USA)
Missouri University of Science and Technology, formally University of Missouri – Rolla (USA)
Montana College of Minerals Science & Technology (USA)
Pennsylvania State University – University Park (USA)
Queen's University (Canada)
South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (USA)
Universidad Autonoma San Luis Potosi (Mexico)
University of Alaska (USA)
University of Alberta (Canada)
University of Arizona (USA)
University of British Columbia (Canada)
University of California – Berkeley (USA)
University of Idaho – Moscow (USA)
University of Laval (Canada)
University of Nevada – Reno (USA)
University of Toronto (Canada)
University of Utah (USA)
University of Waterloo (Canada)
Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (USA)
West Virginia University (USA)

2. Be of age 31 or younger

3. Score at least a 6 on all of the components of the IELTS

4. Take a health exam

5. Provide a police clearance to prove that you are of "good character" from the FBI

What you can do with the visa in Australia:

1. Work

2. Study

3. Travel

4. Able to apply for Permanent Residence if you pas the General Skilled Migration Test.

Cost of the visa: $270 AUD

Here is the website http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...migration/476/

I think this might be a real option for me, I would first have to take 2 years at a CCC, then pray that I get to transfer into UC - Berkeley, then finish a BS and apply for this visa.
