So I'm 26 and the oldest people think I am is 22... I couldn't even buy a friggin' aerosol spray paint at Wal-Mart the other day cus you have to be "over 18"... Well, I guess it's a blessing now that I'm older; I personally think I look my age, though. Anyway, which one would be better to travel with within the US: my Mexican passport or Matrícula Consular (Mexican ID Card)? I have both...

Oh i still haven't traveled with mine... that's why I started this thread. but i plan on going to florida in about a month/2 months or so. I will post how it goes when I do. From reading everyone's post it seems that it's pretty safe to fly with just a passport. It is a government issued ID, just not a U.S. ID.

Your husband is from Mexico? He needs to go to the Mexican consulate. See if he can make an appointment because that is faster, he needs three photos of himself in passport size, an original birth certificate, three copies of the mentioned certificate, a goverment issue photo identification - matricula works just fine. Also three copies of the identification. The copies ought to be from the front and back. They keep your birth certificate so make sure you can get another one before leaving his. He is going to get his passport the same day.

P.S. everybody thinks that mexican goverment is so corrupt and that they just issue those like candy. I have seen people crying because they lost a day of work and traveled like 5 hours just to go to the consulate and being told that they cannot get a matricual/passport.

Duh, it's because they didn't bring any drugs. jk

Is it necessary to get an American passport even if you already of a state ID and driver's license?
