Damnit. This sucks.
I wonder why it takes longer for the people who didn't wait. -_-

It really is strange. I can't seem to understand why there are such large variances in wait times. I know some of the other guys who've applied for ssn's are in Cali like I am but had to wait longer

It has to do with how fast USCIS uploads your information to the system.

Quick question joto, did they gave u a receipt when u went to the ssa office saying "you should receive ur card in about 2 weeks"?? Or did they tell u on the spot that not waiting those 10 days wi make the process longer?

WOW. Today I went to the SSA Office and got my printout. When I got home later that day, there was a letter from SSA with my physical card! Crazy. I can't believe how quick the process went. Tomorrow morning I will head to the DMV early in the morning as I do not have an appointment. The next available one is on Halloween.

Congrats. I just got my ssn card today too. I'm still studying for the written exam, hopefully I can go to the DMV soon.

Thanks! Glad to hear you got yours too . I won't be able to dedicate a lot of time to study the manual. Midterms are coming up so I will be preoccupied. I downloaded an iPhone app that allegedly has real sample of questions used in the exam. I used it for a few minutes the other day and it was a good way to practice. Do you already know how to drive? I have never actually driven before, so this is completely new to me. I am 24 years old lol..however, I am glad that I can finally say I'll be able to drive legally!

No more "Why don't you drive?" "Why don't you have a drivers license?" "Why don't you have an ID"

Ahhh. It feels good knowing I won't be hearing those questions

I went with someone today that has never driven and they got their Permit. The test is not out of this world.
