(im horrible with math).. and to add to that .. there is a limited number of 4yr public schools in Ca. that offer arc. as a major and the ones that do are very selective as to go they admit.. so in other words i dont want to waste four yrs of my life taking all these classes and at the end of the day i dont get to transfer.. >_< .. so im a bit sketchy about that.. im actually concidering going back to poli sci. and then just go for law school .. but i dont know.. im still confuseD..

.. any one else here majoring in ARC?

I'm not sure if this would give you any help at all, but I thought I'd mention it. Since you don't like math that much, there are schools out there that focus more on the creative aspect of architecture. My cousin is currently studying at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and for the first two years she had mostly studio classes. She's in her third year and finally has sort of math classes (physics, statics and the like), but is still greatly focused on design.

I'm not sure of schools in Cali that offer a more design-focused curriculum, but you should try to search for them.

The last part you said you don't want to waste four years and then transfer... why would you go to a 4 year school to study arc. and then transfer? Wouldn't you already have the degree by then?

Yes, I'm majoring in architecture. What I'm doing right now is a CAD program, which provides an entry level to architecture or engineering. If you're really interested in architecture, just make sure that all the classes you're taking are transferable to a four year university. Even though you may be horrible at math doesn't mean you should stop as long you feel that arc. is something you really want to do. If you ever need help with math I could help you out just p.m. me. Also, I want to add that architecture is more of 6 years to major in it.

Gsb, that's the same thing that happened to me, hence I changed my major to engineering which is also a bitch...

The only affordable public four year school in Southern Cali that I can think of is Cal Poly Pomona. Good luck getting in as an architecture major.

Woodbury will accept even douches almost, but its private so good luck again ...

Sci Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) is also another good school which I believe is private.

If you're liking accounting stick with it, IT will be the death of you...not to mention that accounting pays thrice as much as IT.

..yeah well you see, ive only looked into public schools in CA. since it ends up beign a lot cheaper than privates or out of state schools.. but i will do some more research.. to see what other options i have..

.. in the last part what i ment is that in CA, if you are enrolled in a CC as an Arc. major the transfer prosses and time of transfer to a four year school takes a lot longer than any other major (except for engineering).. so it takes an average of 3-4 yrs to transfer.. to a 4 year institution.. because of the very long list of classes you must take as pre-recs. plus atleast 2 years of school in where ever else you transfer .. so it takes around 6 yrs to get a degree in Arc.

thanks for the advice, ive always wanted to do something with arc. i took arc 1 and arc 2 in high school making models and what not, but back then we didnt "use" math much except for simple calculations , so you can say that math was never an issue .. but when i started college i realised that there is a long list of math classes i must take in order to transfer so that kind of turned me away from arc. you can say ..but now im back at least to give it a shot.. and thanks for offering to help me out with math, il be sure to pm you if i ever need help.

hehe yeah the requirements for Arc. and Engineering are about the same when in comes down to math.. i know cause a cousin of mine is majoring in electrical engeneering and he has to take a bunch of math classes.. although its not a such a big problem for him.. he loves math...

.. ive actually checked out woodbury and Sci Arc.. they are both really good schools .. lol it is true Woodbury does except almos every douche that applies.. (a friend of mine attends as an Arc. major) .. and Sci Arc i like.. also its really nice.. but way tooo small.. and both very expensive.

pomona is really good, i have another friend also majoring in Arc. that transfered there right after high school ..

right now im only looking into 4 schools (cal-poly SLO, cal-poly pomona, berkeley and ucla) they are the only publics that offer aRc. in Ca.. but i dont know i will have to see how this whole thing turns out.
