My canadian application is pending so hoping that goes smooth.
FYI a job offer is not necessary. You will need atleast a bachelors degree and a decent ielts score to qualify.

I am gonna bring it up with my employer in February, as I expire in October of 18. But just curious to see if anyone knows.

In case you ask. I hold an engineering degree.
Is it a BS or MS? How many years of experience do you have? Calculate ur points for express entry. They have dropped the points this year and many people are qualifying

You can move from here. Go to express entry points calculator and see what you get. Estimate ur ielts score if you havent taken yet. A score above 430 is good these days. Points keep changing though

Many of us worked before DACA, and it wasnt a problem when we applied for it.
This also depends on passed enforcement legislation. Grassley's e-verify bill would require employers to check even current employees, not just new hires, and to recheck everyone every 3 years, so even though some companies haven't really followed up on renewals, something like that would force their hands to do so.

This is why I'm not a fan of e-verify being included in any compromise. If it worked like how all the states that mandate it (i.e. only for new hires), those already employed got to keep their jobs at least to support themselves/their families. But if nationwide e-verify legislation passed along the lines of what Grassley wants, everyone else would be fucked. I know DACAers would be fine, but at what cost? It'd be the exact same thing as what we complain about regarding Cubans, the "I/we got it taken care of, so F everyone else" mentality

You're right, if they do pass enforcement legislation this may not work as well. But companies are already supposed to check these docs and verify them upon expiration, and some don't. Just saying that if any one works for a company that doesn't keep up with that, they could have a chance to at least keep working for a while. Also agree on your last point, it's amazing what 'dreamers' here are willing to give up to save themselves

I've had a business online for a while that's succeful so I don't need DACa per day but my I don't know about driving. I'll have to drive with with out a license. Portland police isn't too noisy about status so that's good.

Listen guys I know if nothing happens as we go back to pre DACa, some of you will lose your amazing jobs and even houses but let's not forget we didn't expect DACa we didn't know we would get 5 years of a good thing. And before DACa we were making it one way or another. Let's aim for the moon and hope to land among the stars

question, I'm EWI as well. Looking to marry my partner, but not sure of what can happen since I'm EWI. Is there a possibility of us having to go back to our home country and stay there?
