What they want and can pass through reconciliation will be included in 1 of the two reconciliation bills this year. Everything else will be left to die in the senate.

You must be kidding if you think Republicans will help democrats pass democratic priorities. A sizable share of their party don’t even think that Biden legitimately won the election and they literally just tried to overthrow the government a few weeks ago. They don’t even want to vote for the next covid bill but yeah sure they’ll help pass the dream act.

Graham-durbin bill is political theatre. I don’t buy it.

100 Members of Congress urge for the inclusion of immigrant essential workers, #Dreamers & #TPS in the upcoming #COVID19 reconciliation recovery bill. Immigrants have helped keep Americans healthy & safe during the pandemic & are critical for our economic recovery.

Meh do it, write the bill overnight, introduce it, give nobody time to read it, put it immediately on the calendar under rule 17, vote on it 15 minutes later and pass it 51-50. Then just send it to the house for an up/down vote.

Great numbers. With only 221 Democrats in the house, it only takes 4 members out of these 100 reps to tank legislation (assuming no Republican votes). Joaquin Castro et al can force his bill into the covid bill if they wanted to. The ball is in Nancy’s court. They put her on notice.

We’ll talk about the senate once we get there.

Instead, Durbin is planning to start with a smaller issue that already has bipartisan support — the so-called dreamers — when he and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) re-introduce their DREAM Act legislation during the first week of February.

The bill is expected to mirror legislation they’ve offered previously, which extended permanent residency, and eventual citizenship, to immigrants brought into the country illegally as children who meet certain work and education requirements.

Good sign that Graham is introducing it.
