Also, just noticed that the dems will have 23 senate seats in play vs 10 repubs for the 2024 elections and repubs are poised to steal at least 5 seats. Mccarthy has already said that he is not bringing any immigration bills, So is now or never, literally.

Yes, it is now or never. Let's not forget that in 2013 (or 14), Boehner did not even bring immigration reform bill to the floor of the house. And that bill passed Senate with super majority. He was too afraid of his house caucus.

Few would argue that GOP House Caucus has grown fiercely anti-immigration reform since then. McCarthy ain't bringing jack to the floor.

Now or Never, unfortunately. By Never, I mean at least not until 2025.

Any deal struck in the senate will have strict enforcement and restriction. I am also cautious of the house liberals, you know how they can get if they see border security and title 42

Something is going to happen. I can feel it. Hilario is also in DC. Something is brewing!

Not even 2025, more like 2029. If you look at the 2024 elections, the senate dems have 23 seats in play and the gop have only 10. Even by todays polls the Dems are poised to lose at least 5 senate seats.

What about 2025 midterms?

Tillis on state of immigration talks:
"we're still trying to work out the border protections, title 42, expedited removal, a number of the underpinnings we need so that we can honestly say that we're going to reduce future flows and then deal with the population that's here ...

... if we're able to do that, we've got the potential of getting something done but it has to start with a strong foundation on border security this year."

this year?
"Either this year or four years from now"

confusing... but seems as though Tillis gets it - it's either now, or four years from now (or later).

Bro.. that is precisely what both parties have disagreed on for the past 3 or 4 decades. It killed every other bill before it.

Logic says to try something new, so small rather than a big bill that will most likely fail.
