In my birth certificate I have two last names, but in the EAD only my paternal last name shows and also the receipts I got from DMV only shows one

Don't be so sure. I heard mine typing in everything she was reading and I heard her say "2014" as she typed in my EAD info but my ID showed up and it expires in 2018.

I cannot stop staring at my CA ID.. I don't know why. Have I gone mad?
Also, someone who thought was certain I was undocumented had quite the surprised face when I pulled out a CA ID and someone asked if it was the new one and I said, "Oh yes, you can't fake these.. they are the most advanced."
Her face expressions progressed from "Wait.. oh.. guess he wasn't illegal afterall.."

Ima do the same thing when I get my ID on the mail
and ima take the behind the wheel test on Monday. I have a permit for now
