So my application was received on 6/20/16, been waiting for my biometrics appointment FOREVER, called and emailed multiple times and finally received my appointment notice this Monday...

My permit is expiring on 10/17/16 and my biometrics is scheduled for 10/25/16.
I tried to do a walk in yesterday morning, but was turned away because they were too busy. However, I talked to an officer and he told me that I could tell my employer to register for "E-verify" and to file form G-845 so that I can stay employed even if my permit expires.

Has anyone heard of this before? I tried researching but could not find anything.

Also, I'm thinking of trying a walk-in at another location. Has anyone done this successfully? The officer told me I cannot get my biometrics done at a different office.

Yet again another misinformed officer.

Yes, you can try a walk-in and complete biometrics at another ASC location other than the one you were assigned. Many people here have done that and so have I. The key is to pick an ASC that is not busy and to go during off peak hours like right after lunch but before closing because then the chance of them turning you away is low.

pretty sure the first thing is incorrect.

As far as the walk-in, you should try to walk in on the same weekday that your appointment is on at that location or if you're not successful, ask the attendants what days are slower. I hate that some of you live near field offices with a lot of traffic. At the one I did mine at, I've always been in and out in less than 10 mins. I've been going to that same office since 2003 and it's ALWAYS near empty.

To the people joining us recently, make sure you all check the first page on this thread for the spreadsheet and enter your info. We have enough info in there to answer a lot of the commonly asked questions.
