I'm mad I knew it was too good to be true and I actually believed it would happen.

So when does this recount happens? Will they separate the DREAM act and try to pass it as a separate bill?

All I can tell you now is that Reid will bring up the Defense Bill again very soon ! Remember, the small business bill and the unemployment benefits bill were stalled three times before they finally passed. So, keep CALLING, keep the growing MOMENTUM.

We'll have to wait for Reid's announcement before we could strategize our next move.

Just 3 votes away..wow

Even if they decide to bring DA as a standalone, there's no guarantee we would get the same amount of votes we got today. I got the feeling we could possibly gain some votes, while loosing others. Some senators might not feel comfortable voting for dream as a standalone. Nevertheless, it's worth a shot, since passage of our dream will be getting much more difficult after elections.

Collins explained that she supported repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy but "cannot vote to proceed to this bill under a situation that is going to shut down debate and preclude Republican amendments."

Wasn't the reason for Reid disallowing Republican amendments, due to the republicans always adding amendments that end up stalling or killing bills in the first place?

Sounds like an excuse to me.

I'm somewhat wishing McCain would've lost his primary. Then he would not have to worry about flip flopping and could've voted for us before he retired.

On the plus side ( hard to find, I know ) ... at least several Senators are currently making impassioned speeches in support of DREAM and getting really ticked off at the idiot sell-outs who are playing with people's lives.
