Rick's character is mostly the reason I started watching this show. This season I was mostly watching for the other characters (Daryl, Glen, Carl).

Any thoughts about what Carl did, guys? Don't like him anymore. Growing up to be a punkass.

I see your point about Carl, but I cut him some slack because of the post-apocalyptic world that they now live in. If this was before the zombie apocalypse or when it had just started, I would have had a tougher reaction to Carl's actions specifically the one that Hershel witnessed. However, with people like The Governor that appeared to be a decent guy initially until he really became unhinged, I don't blame Carl for being very wary about adding new people to the group.

Although I have Mad Men, and Game of Thrones to keep me occupied on Sundays...I still want Walking Dead.

Taking a potential prisoner's life who probably didn't shoot at anyone, who probabily was a minor, I wouldn't cut him any slack. The post apocalypse world is tough but there are still morals/principles to abide by. That's just like the governer saying the apocalypse made him this way. It's just a cop out.

It would be interesting to see Rick's reaction to this. I would take away Carl's guns for life.

I do see what you're saying and I may be wrong but I really think that Carl as young as he is, is definitely growing up to be a good judge of character, he needs to be the way he is in order for them to survive (he was able to tell that Michonne would be a good addition to the group).

Following Rick or Hershel's rules completely will definitely not work especially when dealing with characters like The Governor and his armed brainwashed followers. Rick is sometimes too indecisive and I think that such behavior puts the group at risk.

To your point about The Governor, I do believe that the apocalypse has brought out the worst in him, I certainly believe that his behavior would have been very different if his wife and daughter had made it and were still with him (at least he would've kept his evil side hidden from others). It would definitely be interesting to see how Rick handles Carl's behavior in Season 4.

Are you still upset about the whole not wanting to tell us your gaps?

Rick is indecisive in season 1/2 because every human life counts and is valuable. And he is trying his best to be righteous and fair. If you gather up all the felons in the world and kill them all, it would be a much much much safer place. But it wouldn't be right or fair. There's a thin line between being right and being safe in the show. That is what this show tests at times.

Now some people say that post apocolypse, rules don't matter. But disagreed, rules matter the most then. You have to take into account people's innocence and your safety on a balanced level.

Think about what Carl said to Rick later on when Rick confronted him about the situation. Carl was mostly pissed that Rick lets everyone go and it causes problems later on (Lori died cause Rick let the black prison inmate go earlier)

So, he did it out of spite not out of fear/self defense.

I can tell that you are not a Carl fan I understand, his actions have been sometimes very controversial; hopefully Carl can redeem himself in the next season.
