And you're right, the president is probably to some extent thinking about his legacy. And why shouldn't he? It's HIS legacy. I, like you, want him to cover as many people as possible, but I also want this to hold up in the courts and in the court of public opinion. Granting deferred action to parents of USC and LPR is not nothing. That's a big deal for millions of Americans and even some dreamers who come from mixed status families. The president could very easily sit back and so nothing like his "genuine" republican counterparts but he is choosing to do something instead. We should all be grateful that more people will able to partake in the benefits that DACA has given many dreamers.

Sorry for typos. Writing on phone.
Damn, that's good for writing on a phone. I agree with you for the most part. I had a feeling he was going to start with parents of USC, then spouses, and so on. But it doesn't seem he will even do spouses unless there are children involved. That alone hinted he would not consider parents of DACA beneficiaries. He is trying to wrap things around USC and PR.

Yeah I know. As you may recall I too am dealing with the waiver process as you and your wife have tried and it's not easy legalizing through a spouse. However, I am hopeful something will still be done to ease the waiver process. I also feel like we need the american public to continue to be sympathetic to the plight of all immigrants and I believe the White House weighed all their options and made a political calculation. No one knows the details of this EO, so there may be surprises, there may not. However, we should wait before we lose all hope.

The first president of U.S. Immigration Reform/waiver to all undocumented aliens

Ronald Wilson Reagan, Republican - 1986 IRCA: amnesty in exchange for tough border & penalties

Rising levels of illegal immigration [led to] the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA). It provided amnesty for 3 million illegal immigrants, in return for increased border security and penalties for companies "knowingly" hiring illegal immigrants. Aside from creating the H-2A visa for seasonal employment, IRCA failed to create new avenues for legal immigration.

I hope I squeeze in there through the removal of the DACA age cap or through my spouse; they should count me as being a parent even if we are 3 months pregnant. Don't they treat fetuses as human life in criminal trials? Fuck, maybe I'm watching too much CSI. lol

I am hopeful the cap will also allow you to receive relief. Congrats on the pregnancy. I hope this brings more stability in terms of status for you and your family.

That said, the conclusion is that overall when it comes to IMMIGRATION, I am damn sure that the Republican Party is more genuine, this being the key word, than the Democrats. Tomorrow, they will be shutting the door for millions upon millions of people who will not qualify because for sure the Republicans will be enraged and they will never ever work with the Democrats. What's the main reason why they don't want to include parents of DACA beneficiaries? It's NOT because he can't support it legally. That is complete BULLSHIT. He just gave us DACA and everything is going smooth. Why the fuck can't he do that same thing for others? Are they a different species or something? The main reason why he doesn't want to include them is because he doesn't want backlash! He's just trying to protect his ass and his legacy. I am 100% sure if the Republicans had a supermajority, they would pass CIR tomorrow, maybe a VERY TOUGH version but they would definitely do it. Now please don't start scolding me for not appreciating DACA blahblahblah. What a bunch of malarkey...
That's BS, last time republicans passed anything pro-immigration was never.

Obama is the only president in the last 30 years who has taken a bold step for us. Backlash? LOL you don't think he will get backlash for what he is about to do? Think about the backlash he has recieved for DACA. He has to calculate a lot of risks while granting work permits for millions.

Think straight man or keep crying I suppose.

Thank you... I heard my baby's heartbeat and nearly passed out. I went blank like ( ) and then came back to life. I've never been that happy ever in my life.

I just hope Obama makes it clear that it's 2 year work permits.

Repubs go ape shit on how it's amnesty. Amnesty would be GCs.
