I do believe that the president believes in CIR. I also realize that as much as this is a real life situation for undocumented folks like myself and our families this is also a political decision he is making here. And you're right, the president is probably to some extent thinking about his legacy. And why shouldn't he? It's HIS legacy. I, like you, want him to cover as many people as possible, but I also want this to hold up in the courts and in the court of public opinion. Granting deferred action to parents of USC and LPR is not nothing. That's a big deal for millions of Americans and even some dreamers who come from mixed status families. The president could very easily sit back and so nothing like his "genuine" republican counterparts but he is choosing to do something instead. We should all be grateful that more people will able to partake in the benefits that DACA has given many dreamers.

Yeah I know. As you may recall I too am dealing with the waiver process as you and your wife have tried and it's not easy legalizing through a spouse. However, I am hopeful something will still be done to ease the waiver process. I also feel like we need the american public to continue to be sympathetic to the plight of all immigrants and I believe the White House weighed all their options and made a political calculation. No one knows the details of this EO, so there may be surprises, there may not. However, we should wait before we lose all hope.

That said, the conclusion is that overall when it comes to IMMIGRATION, I am damn sure that the Republican Party is more genuine, this being the key word, than the Democrats. Tomorrow, they will be shutting the door for millions upon millions of people who will not qualify because for sure the Republicans will be enraged and they will never ever work with the Democrats. What's the main reason why they don't want to include parents of DACA beneficiaries? It's NOT because he can't support it legally. That is complete BULLSHIT. The main reason why he doesn't want to include them is because he doesn't want backlash! He's just trying to protect his ass and his legacy. I am 100% sure if the Republicans had a supermajority, they would pass CIR tomorrow, maybe a VERY TOUGH version but they would definitely do it.
