After graduating from college, has anyone been successful landing a job in their respective industries/field? The reason I'm asking is because I have a finance degree without any internship or direct previous employment experience so I am having a tough time getting job offers. It seems like I'm gonna have to start from all way from the bottom (again). lol

haha. Nope. Internship basically bottom feeder. But, hey it is something to put on your resume. With a finance degree you can go big. Even doing contract work on the side.

Internship at IBM, very high chance of full time job after graduating. I got this job through networking with my professors and showing them my portfolio.

I voted somewhat because I haven't graduated yet.

Required SSN and EAD to work, too.

Feel free to PM me if you are a computer science major.

What do you do in finance? I work in finance now and I'm noticing the difficulty a lot of people are having trying to get into a firm. The BBs generally won't pick you up if you're not a top grad from a target school, so start small. Look locally for small boutiques, or try to get into a bank that you can grow in (Like a Chase, BOA, etc). One that has an IBD or an extensive underwriting arm.

I'm glad you posted this! I am a Finance major too, well graduated in June and definitely having a hard time finding a job within the industry. I looked into Chase and other major bank , but they want permanent residency. Any advice would be of great help!!
