Yea it really does depend on the circumstances of that person then imagine if they're claimed as a dependent they won't see that money.

Even though it's your money, income tax returns are just as American as apple pie, they give you such a good feeling.

I've heard some people say they take pictures of the check and post it on facebook.

Question,

I just updated my info at work (my real name and now ssn). I was wondering if I could get a corrected w-2 form so that I can file taxes this year with my ssn. Any one have an idea if this can be done? Thanks for your help.

W2s are issued by your employer. Contact them and request an amended/updated W2.

Alright.... So I followed this forum's advice. Did my taxes w my new ss# even though my W2's have my "other" ss number listed. That was weeks ago. No response until today. I got a letter from the state saying my ss #'s don't match and until this gets resolved I'm not getting anything back.

I asked this question many times. And got the same answer each time so this is how I filed. I ignored my gut feeling and it bit me in the behind.

My advice to all of you. Just have a professional deal with your taxes.

If anyone else filed like I did and got their refund please let me know what I did wrong....

You could have your employer issue an amended W2.

payroll clerk said she couldn't give me an amended W-2 form for 2012, because my ssn was issued in january of this year.
