Hey guys!
Wow I really didn't know that there were so many people with the same type of problems that I have. Well I think.

About me - I live in Garden Grove, CA ( North CA) I moved from Korea when I was about 3. My mother and father has ssn but i don't, no green card, which we waited for years, my status is pending.. which i dont even know what that means and its been like that for a long time.. I am currently 16, no drivers permit and no job, which just stinks! I really hope things will get better. I'm doing a home schooling program called American School Of Corr. I'm going to try to finish this high school by at least this year. Then going to get higher education in the medical field, towards radiology. Like x-ray tech, or something around that. Any suggestions on what college?
I realy hope that the dream act can help me.

Honestly, having immigrated from korea sucks! I say worst decisions my parents made.
I hate it when i have to say no when friends ask if i can drive.
I hate it when I cant go everywhere i want cause i dont have an ID
I hate it when i cant go back to my home country.
I hate it when my relatives call me and ask if im going to ever visit and i would say sometime soon(which is a lie cause its not gonna happen for a while)
I hate it when i cant work. To help my parents out with paying bills. THey work soo hard and pay their taxes!
I hate it when i have to think of school and not being able to get scholorship because of not having these things.
I hate having to lie to friends when people ask why i dont have a drivers permit or why i cant go to some place or why i dont work.
Making up dang excuses.
You know why is america soo strict?
Cmon ease up!

You know the what the worst part is.. I cant even sign up for a dang lottery for ssn... THEY DONT ACCEPT KOREANS!
SCREW YOU! I NEVER DID ANYTHING! I NEVER BROKE A SINGLE LAW!
I hope obama fixes things. I sure do, and if he doesnt.. idk what ill do.

Im glad there are people here that understand.
I really am.
I sure hope this dream act goes through.
But, will it solve anything for me? would i have to wait more years? would i get everything i need to roam free? Would i get to be a citizen in the US?

If you guys can help me get things done faster. I know im only 16 but this is important for me. thats why im trying to finish high school early and start college early.

Is there any way i can get an ID or even a drivers permit or be able to work without ssn or even if my status is pending?

Northridge (CSUN) has really cool stuff for radiology technology and I believe LACC does as well.

You can get a driver's license and an ID in Washington.

You can work for a job that pays cash and won't ask for a SSN. There are a lot of illegals and they all have jobs.

People that live illegally in the US won't be able to participate in the Green Card lottery, the Green Card lottery was built for countries that there are not many people from there in the US, so they do it to give them a shot. There are a lot of Koreans to Korea can't participate in the lottery. Also you need to be 18+ and have a GED to participate in the lottery.

Hey AaronKim,

I am in your position almost everyday. But, bn1 is right. Try to find a job that won't ask for ssn. They're low paying and you work your butt off, but it's something at least. Yes, definitely try Washington. But, like I said in another post, my dad got a DL in WA mid last yr easily, but when I wanted to try late of last yr they said they have made the law more strict so I couldn't get one. Of course, that was just for the Seattle area.

My whole family chose to come here also. All those "I hate"s that you listed, almost brought tears to my eyes. x.x Those area exactly the things I have to suck up everyday.
When my friends ask me to hangout, ask me why don't I get a DL I always make up some excuse.
My grades are top notch and my friends often ask why I don't apply for scholarships, another excuse comes up.
Same when my family calls from China and ask when I will visit, I have to make another excuse. My grandma and grandpa passed away a yr ago or so, but we weren't able to go back to pay respects.

So, you're not alone. ^_^ Being here is great, because maybe others have knowledge and solutions with problems in areas where you are new to.
I hear a lot of ppl here saying Washington for a DL, so now I'll recheck on that.
Nova Southeastern University is considered to be the best in FL, if you ever decide out of state. Lots of students here that graduate from NSU are accredited higher.
