Hi everyone! I am new to the forum I heard about the DREAM ACT on the news and i believe is such a good proposal. Once approved, it will totally change many students life, a chance to a better life definitely.
But to the point, I live in North Texas (Dallas to be more specific) and I would love to be involved in the movement. Any one out there knows of any events happening in the area or would like to organize a positive and well organized movement. Maybe we can do something to educate people about it, or give a little push to the petition. If so please HELP me out! I am willing to unite my voice with others to create a positive impact.

I don't know much about actual events or petitions or the like, but you can definitely help convince your two senators to support this bill.

Hutchison was tepidly for it... though I think she may have just wanted to neuter the bill by amending it so we can never, ever become citizens and only have a renewable (perhaps temporary visa).

Cornyn used to be for it, but then flip-flopped like a coward--the opposite of a tough cowboy he tries to portray himself to be.

They may pay a tiny bit more attention to you since you are a Texan--flood them with calls, faxes, e-mails, and regular mailings.

Hutchison, Kay Bailey - (R - TX)
284 RUSSELL SENATE OFFICE BUILDING
WASHINGTON DC 20510
(202) 224-5922

Cornyn, John - (R - TX)
517 HART SENATE OFFICE BUILDING
WASHINGTON DC 20510
(202) 224-2934

Also, contact your local news stations, newspapers, etc. and ask them to cover this important bill.

Hey Guys!

I'm from North Texas too... I found this website with information that I think we could use.

http://dreamacttexas.blogspot.com/

I'm not aware of any other activities going on in our area, but if I hear of anything else I will post it here.

awww... I wish I had read your post earlier

There was a DREAM Act Symposium at SMU about 10 days ago. It's too late now but here is the website if you want to read about the event.

Our communication and flow of information needs to get better in Texas... there are plenty of orgs in the state that are pro-DREAM or just dedicated to DREAM but I don't think we're communicating as effectively as we should.

This is where it would help if more local organizations utilized DAP to get in touch with each other.
