High unemployment+Guest worker program during major reform talks might not yield any positive results according to this article.

What is also interesting is that this article also mentions that the former President wanted to initiated reform early in 2001 but because of the 2001 attacks that was obviously postponed.I can only imagine if the former President had tried early enough in his first term that reform would have passed because even 245i passed during that time period.
Quote:
This month, White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs said Obama would soon introduce new plans for overhauling immigration, a legislative priority for companies such as chipmaker Intel Corp., hotel-chain Marriott International Inc. and Western Union Co., the world’s biggest money-transfer business.

In Mexico City last week, Obama, 47, said he remains “committed to fixing our broken immigration system,” and a Senate committee has announced it will begin hearings on the issue next week. Still, David Axelrod, a senior White House adviser, said the president may not be able to make good on his promise to sign legislation within his first year in office.

‘Committed’ to It

“We’re committed to beginning that discussion this year,” Axelrod said in an interview last week. “Whether we complete that this year is another question.”

Obama’s predecessor, President George W. Bush, abandoned a push for a comprehensive plan in his first term after the Sept. 11 attacks raised concerns over border security. A proposal he initiated in his second term was killed by Congress in 2007, even though it was supported by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the largest U.S. business lobbying organization. The group said it would support renewed efforts this year...........

................Nonetheless, Senator Charles Schumer, a New York Democrat, said he was undeterred by “these difficult economic conditions” and would press ahead with hearings this month in the Senate’s Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security, which he chairs.

“There is a real chance of passing comprehensive reform this year,” said Schumer, 58

Reading/Posting endless recycled re-collections about the DREAM ACT is not going to help it pass.

They are useless articles that are deterrent to our efforts.

How is this a useless article? The only thing deterrent to our efforts is the silly idea you posted in the taking action lounge.

What purpose do they serve? Everyone here knows what the Dream Act is, we don't need to be convinced to support it. We need to focus our efforts on changing the minds of the key people in congress who matter, not speculating "what if...?"'s that only become a distraction.

There is a reason why this section is called a newsroom. If you have a problem with it, then don't read the articles posted on here.

Exactly this is the NEWSroom, but a majority of these articles are not news to anyone. That is my arguement.

Stop posting any and every article just because it mentions the DREAM ACT.

What are we supposed to do instead, make up false facts about the DREAM Act like you suggested? Every article that mentions the DREAM Act is important.

Go back to making 15 new accounts per day, it's clearly the only thing you're good at.

Actually this was news to me. Thanks alot libl . Please continue with all these informative news.

Now can you give it a rest projex? what might not be news to you and be old story to you, might not be to others.

And purpose of this article:

It sure cheered me up to know that Senator Charles Schumer and President obama still care.

Also may i ask how many people have you called? Oh while you at it, care to actually give us the phone numbers you called or have called to support our cause?

Please stop being negative my friend. And if you are annoyed by it and feel you can not be further educated by these informative news ( which i think every article and news is unique and very diffrent than others), then stop reading. There is a diffrence between stating your opinion and nagging. I tend to not criticize other posters in this forum but please know the diffrence between nagging and opinion as well.

And lastly, although some articles might have the same core ( Like all supporting dream act/ CIR), they are still very diffrent. If you read the whole article ( i am not just talking about the summaries), you can notice the diffrence and see how much more information you can gain from it.

P.S. No offense, but your idea in the lounge was really ( ok i will use a politically correct wording for it) not educated.
P.S.S. Where exactly in this article, dream act is mentioned? You must be seeing things my friend ( or maybe you havent even read it???).
