Okay so, I came to the U.S with my family when I was 3. We came from S.Korea.
The thing is, I was under my moms ssn and she thought that I would get my own even if she didn't release me under her name.
Things didnt work out according to plan.
My parents did everything they needed to do.
Pay, Interview and wait.
But now im 16, waited for 13 years of our lives and guess what?
nothing. No green card, no new ssn for me, nothing at all.
What am i doing now? im still waiting, trying figure out a way to get all the things i need. So far I dont think ive come across anyone in the same situation as i am.
My status is pending... its been like that for 13 years... how long does this thing take?
Now im counting on the dream act.
if anyone know a way i can get a green card or ssn in my situation that would be awesome!
I want to drive but i cant, i cant go to a major university cause i cant apply for finacial aid. Please help me ..

Moreinfo...
When we came to U.S my dad had a L1 visa and me and mom had L2 visa.
I have a passport but its korean. and i have no visa
We actually did have a lawyer but he was no help.

Maybe you should get a lawyer, and if you already have one, then I suggest finding another one. Maybe this one doesn't know what he/she is doing, and that's why it's still pending..

go to immigrate2us.net

it's a good website and they might be able to help you or guide you in the right direction.

what??? what visa are you under then?

I would agree with the lawyer part and not a KOREAN ONE!!!! korean lawyers (most of them) aren't worth a cent. funny I use to have a best friend growing up with the same name aaron kim haha but then again there's like a million aaron kims.

geronimo is Korean so he can rightfully talk trash about Koreans jk jk
but I do agree with him though... Though it comes from very limited personal experience, my family and I had been scammed by three different Korean immigrant lawyers. And yes they were legitimate lawyers, not fake ones. After that we switched over to non-Korean lawyer... Nothing happening but at least we aren't being scammed...

just... wow.

The reality is that this isn't just limited to Korean culture. It's extremely naive to think that Korean immigration attorneys have higher probability to be fradulent.

I'm in so cal, working in the financial industry. By your logic, the Mexican culture is doomed basically, because I see them exploiting the "cultural trust" to scam money in millions.

This isn't anything new, snaky 'consultants' have always used a form of trust, especially the cultural one, to estabalish connection to those who are UNINFORMED, whether that's an immigration matter or otherwise.

When you see people getting booked, because they used a "broker" to obtain a DL with 50 other matching addresses, it's the same shit.

The bottom line is, don't be one of those uninformed victims, educate yourself first and then seek legal advice. It's your responsibility as the customer to do your homework first.

I totally agree with K-man.

I used to work at a lawyer's office and he had all these files from a paralegal who posed as a lawyer and used to file people's immigration papers. And then he fled the state or something. Point is, he was Jewish.

And I don't know many Korean lawyers, but I know that there are some who are educated outside the US who set up offices-- whoever your lawyer is, just make sure they have good credentials.
