Soooo, I haven't started school yet. I've been patiently waiting on the DA for one reason. I want to take up Criminal Justice. However, in order to get a job using that degree you would need to be a Citizen, which obviously I am not, but hopefully the DA will pass soon and I can go to school for the four years, possibly take up an MA degree to make good use of the other two years I'd have to wait in order to qualify to be a Citizen. Do you guys think I should do this or am I risking getting a degree that I might not be able to use because of my status??...Idk what to do.

Are you going to go to a four year university? If you are, then just go ahead and start taking your general education requirements, which you can do at a community college to save money. If you're not, I don't recommend doing to any program advertised on TV.

What do you want to do with a criminal Justice Major? Seeing as you said you need to be a citizen, I suspect a P.O Officer. I personally think the degree is not worth it especially with the uncertainty of when and if DA passes.

6 yr conditional + 5yr GC Holder = 11 soonest to become Citzen.

With 4 year Criminal justice BA, Then thiers a possibility that you will not get your ideal job for Seven years

Doesnt the 6 year conditional already count towards Citizenship? Just like in a marriage case you get 2 years conditional before you can remove conditions, but those two years conditional already count towards the three years required before you can apply for citizenship (assuming you married a Citizen and not a GC holder) if you marry a GC holder you have to wait 5 years but the first two years conditional still count towards that requirement..correct me if im wrong...

Correct. After the conditional residency, you can apply for citizenship.

No not a P.O., I want to be a Air Marshall or something along those lines...So you guys think I should just go for the Criminal Justice degree for the 4-5 and then complete an MA or Certificate program to pass the year or two that I would need and to advance in my profession? Ultimately it is my decision and no one can make it for me, I just wanna know if you guys think I'm thinking logically lol

Thats the exact school I was looking at =]..I'd do my first two years at my community college which then has an "Continuing Education Agreement" with John Jay for the completion of my BS
