I came to the US legally from africa. I was a child and had no idea about immigration laws. so when our visa expired and we officially became illegal. I had no idea. years later I asked my dad for my SSN and he says " i'm workin on it". it wasn't untill senior year of high school that it dawned on me that I was fucked!. like everyone else, I told lies and decieved my friends. I was really popular so everybody would asked me about where I was going after high school. I was a star athlete, an honoroll student, and a hottie. wich made it impossible to dissapear and be forgotten. my brother got a full scholarship to play sports in college and was able to go since it was a private college. Unfortunately all my scholarships were goverment based and I had to forfeit them all because I was afraid. that's right, AFRAID. It was fear and lack of faith that kept me from trying. those who know us would never suspect what we are. we live pretty well for a bunch of illegals. we are the envy of many. If they only knew.... It went into hiding after high school. told my friends I went to some college in Maryland. After a year of self imprisoment in my own home( waiting for congress to pass the bill) I was like Fuck it!. "I'M ILLEGAL AND I"M PROUD". I found an undercover job and started working. Told the truth to my close friends. Life goes on.
My heart goes out to all of you who have suffered. don't let the pain darken your outlook on life. DON'T LET FEAR HOLD YOU BACK. IF YOU GET A CHANCE GO FOR IT. my little sister has been working undercover and going to a community college. I wish I had done the same. But I lived such a high life, before the truth hit me, I'm simply embarassed to go to a community college. it's been three years since I graduated, and Ijust lost my job. I have hope. Once these shackles are broken, I'll will soar into the sky and fly like an eagle. For those of you who are still in School, don't be afraid to push your limits. there are many people out there that can help. I felt like I let down my coaches who had big plans for me, and my teachers who saw a bright future in me. Those are the kind of people who could have help me If wasn"t full of pride and fear.

JUST FOR LAUGHS: took a girl to the movies. I didn't realize the movie was rated R. when they asked for ID... well... you figure it out. same thing happened when I went clubbing.( I've been single since
I graduated because of this.)

I used to hide and come out during college breaks, telling my friends I'm also on break. They asked so many questions about girls, majors, classes and I just kept on lying.
My guy friend offered to marry me. He even offered me his cousin.

I agree. Fear often controls our actions and prevents us from achieving greatness.

Don't feel bad. I couldn't go into R rated movies even after I turned 17. I would just buy tickets for a PG13 movie and sneak in. And other times, I'd see both movies! hah.

I hope everything works out for you. Don't give up.
