I always here people talk about community college like a bad thing. Is it that bad? whats your opinion?
I want to go into the Radiation therapy, radiation technologist or Dental hygienist field. These only require an associates degree and the pay is good. Does anyone know if these are good fields to go into?

You just got to watch out because when you attened c.c. you basically see
your friends from your high school and ppl tend to slack on their priorities due to having too much fun with your good ol' friends.
yeah true, btw you mentioned uconn! are you from the northeast?

It is not actually not that bad. I have attended one in Austin, TX and I was lucky to have classes in a newer campus. The teacher (mine) was actually very nice and the class was small. Besides missing living in campus and party fun among other stuffs that a universities provides, community is college is quite good.

Make sure you have your next 4 year planned out before you register for any classes in c.c.
Know what major you want to do, and register classes accordingly. If you get your associates degree in c.c. and transfer all/most credits counts however, if you transfer
w/o finishing your 2yr(associates degree) then the new school might not count most your earned credits from your old school.

2 year c.c. usually prepares you to get a job after you get the 2yr degree. they are much faster in paste, and teach you real world stuff. yes 2yr c.c. is good.

i have no idea about your field though.

No its not. Depends on your priorities...if you care what people will think of you because you went to cc then its bad, but thats just in your head. At the end of the day you can transfer and still get the same degree the other guy that went to his/her full four years to a university at a fraction of the cost. If 4 year university is not within your budget cc is the way to go. Key is to stay focused and keep your grades up to make the transfer process smoother.

Note: I attended and graduated from a four year university and have friends that took the cc transfer to university route...at the end of the day in our fields (engineering) we make the same yearly, some make more than me.

Community colleges are the back born of America's secondary education system, offers some of the most quality educational training in 2 years. Lots of people are heading back to community colleges these days.

as far as the cc being a bad thing, it's mostly ppl in 4 year colleges busting balls. I know quite a few uni. professors that teach the same courses at the cc. There are some classes that could use improvement (some of the Adv Calculus) but that could be said of uni. courses as well. Hey, if a certified welder can make up to twice the avg. salary of an engineer, it can't be that bad.
