So, I'm an undocumented student. I graduated from High School last friday. I applied to the University of North Texas, umm, about 5 months ago but I've been having problems and questions. When I first applied, I didn't hear back from the school for a long time. Then I realized that it was because I never paid the application fee. I sent them an e-mail asking if it was too late to send in a waiver for the application fee. I don't know how, I think I may have told them in another e-mail I sent to the school, but they knew I was undocumented. So when the school replied they were telling me that they were going now considering me an international student because I'm undocumented, they transferred my application to the international office of admissions, they also told me that they don't accept waiver fees from international students, and they told me that the application fee for international students was $75 dollars so they bumped it up from $40 to $75.
I didn't really care at first, I was willing to do just about anything to get into that school, so I was like, "whatever, I'll pay the money". Unfortunately, I've been having trouble coming up with the money because of the economy. And after doing some research lately, I found out that under H.B. 1403 law, I'm classified as a Texas resident even though I'm an undocumented immigrant. So this brings me to the question: how can I be considered an intrnational student if I'm classified as a Texas resident? So I'm stumped. I'm completely lost, I have no clue what to do now. Should apply again(this time the proper way), should I call the school telling them there's been some misunderstandings? Or what?

Ugh, they never tell you any of this at school, they assume that everyone there is a US citizen.

What should I do guys? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Contact the admissions office and tell them your situation and let them know you're HB 1403 so your residency status needs to be changed. You will need to provide the affidavit of support of course. For more info on HB 1403 check these websites out.

One question...I found guides for how to apply to colleges as undocumented students. I found one that tells you how to apply as an HB1403 student and one that tells you how to apply as an SB1528 student. The instructions differ slightly on both, so which one should I go by?

Did you use applytexas? You should be considered as a Texas resident since you went to high school (Is it for 3 years?, then that might be the case) If you have, you're supposed to fill out the Residency Affidavit for UNT (saying that you will eventually try to get permanent residency).

Here are more information from their website:

I'm not sure, but you might qualify for Financial Aid under TASFA: http://essc.unt.edu/finaid/grants_sb1528.htm
