Anyone living in Vegas?

Hi. New to the forums. Anyone living in Vegas? Would like to meet people who are in the same situation.

I used to. Went to CMHS. Moved to FL about 2 years ago.

I live in vegas. huge population of immigrants coming from CA and AZ. I actually have some foreign students in some of my college classes. Unfortunately we still don't have in-state tuition for dreamies.

No huh Ed, wrong info. You can get in-state at CSN, and after completing your first 2 years you can transfer to UNLV and still get in-state. Plus, if you did well in High School you get the Millennium Scholarship. Harry Reid did amazing things for us in Nevada.

I get in-state tuition, even tho im from CA. but what I meant was for dreamies out of state, the past 5 years, vegas was the biggest growing city in the U.S. so im sure there are a lot of ppl undocumented moving here. Admissons rep at NSC, told me being undocumented, as well as an out of state student, was really hard to get in-state as far as your 1st yr would go. They needed either a w-2, bank statements or show that your depending on your parents by being claimed on the tax form. It basically boiled down to if you can show you are a resident in nevada for atleast 6 mos. (it used to be a year), at least thats what was told to me. and there was never any doubt in my mind, that harry reid does great things for this state.

In state tuition is when you pay less from people coming from out of state right?

Crap. I didn't really understand what you meant to say, but if you meant to say that it's hard to get in-state right away (coming from another state) that's everywhere. You must live at least a year (in most of the states) in order to apply for in-state.

Well what i meant to say, is its even harder for dreamies from out of state, to get in-state tuition.

b/c for dreamies who don't have a w-2, bank statement, or some kind of proof of legal residence some might never get in-state. @ CSN they ask for either a w-2, and a gov't issued ID. they wouldn't accept a passport, from a foreign country, they specifically told me, that even though your passport is not expired, it is not a valid form of ID, b/c it doesn't exactly prove you have been living here. NV high school students are perfectly fine, since you have your school IDs and transcripts. now with matricula's i don't know if that would work.

At least you can get it! I've been in FL for 2 years and it's impossible to get in-state, even if you graduated from a FL high school.
