Hahaha, he managed to place last on both HLN and CNN, and now HLN is dropping his racist ass.

Also, I'm glad CNN is losing it's viewership in all time slots. Most people are probably flocking to MSNBC instead. Hell yeah!

Quote:
During the month of May, according to The Observer’s analysis of Nielsen data, Mr. Dobbs’ 7 p.m. program on CNN averaged 657,000 total viewers and 181,000 in the key 25-to-54 demographic—numbers that were down a whopping 29 percent and 27 percent, respectively, versus May of 2008. Along the way, Mr. Dobbs sank into third place in his time slot, trailing Fox News’ Shepard Smith by a bundle and MSNBC’s Chris Matthews by a sliver. During three out of the first six weeknights in June, Mr. Dobbs’ place in the standings sank even lower; he finished fourth in the demo, falling behind HLN’s Jane Velez-Mitchell.

On HLN, Lou Dobbs Tonight hasn’t fared much better. During a month in which CNN’s sister network has seen its weekday prime-time ratings grow an impressive 40 percent year-over-year in the 25-to-54 demo, the 9 p.m. repeat of Mr. Dobbs’ show was down 8 percent (129,000 versus 140,000) in the demo compared with the same time period last year.

In fact, on the night of Mr. Dobbs’ czar analysis, the 63-year-old anchor managed to pull off what must be rare feat in the history of cable news: He finished in fourth place in the demographic at two different time slots (7 p.m. and 9 p.m.) on two different networks (CNN and HLN) on the same night!

OF COURSE, Mr. Dobbs is hardly the only CNN anchor struggling to hang on to his audience. Anderson Cooper and Campbell Brown have seen some of their viewers disappear since the start of the year. But Mr. Dobbs’ recent dip promises to make CNN’s challenge of recapturing second place from MSNBC in prime time that much harder.

And by the way, Lou Dobbs is a racist. Period.

He was promoting that story about "Mexican leprosy" and when reports pointed out that it was a hoax, he didn't even had the guts to issue an apology.

Also, he called Condoleezza Rice a cotton picker.

Lou Dobbs is a racist and I'm glad his ratings are down.

Karma will eventually catch up to him. And if it doesn't, you can't escape the big man upstairs for very long.

And his numbers are actually pretty good. He has the highest rated show among young people which is the demographic that advertisers look at. Bill O'Reilly has a larger audience overall, but that's because it includes millions of old people who advertisers don't care much about.

Hence you see commercials for hearing aids, and Hoverounds on one show, and commercials for Subaru and Verizon on the other.
Yeah, millions of old people who actually go out and VOTE!!

Fortunately, their dwindling ranks are not enough to make a difference. Hence Obama won.

Time is their worst enemy.

The bottom line is that he's a DREAM Act detractor. This site is all about advocating for the DREAM Act, and until we get our own show on CNN or another major news network, or better yet get it into law, expect us to get angry once in a while.

And I agree with you about Durbin. He's idolized here because he is a champion of the DREAM Act. If he did a 180 tomorrow and starting ranting against it, then he would be hated. If Keith Olbermann or even the President started ranting and raving about bad the DREAM Act is, then they would be hated as well.
I stumbled upon Mr.Dobbs's show when I was 13 in 2005, I became so enfuriated by his antics and haterid towards illegals it made fell the same about people in my own situation. I would seriously say to myself "Dirty filthy worthless Mexicans" every time I passed by the local day labor site. I used to try to make myself feel superior, but deep down inside I knew I was no better than my fellow neighbor. Looking back I could not believe how easily I was influenced by this, I felt so cynical, so stupid afterwards. Every time I saw a hard working man or woman who I assumed to be illegal I thought "There's a family behind that Wo/man, they need him/her, he's/she's not filth or inferior, s/he is great and brave for doing what she does". As I grew I changed my way of thinking a lot. I am glad I did, after all we are all human, the only difference between us and animals is that we can read and write.

I'm glad Lou's rating is down!! If it keeps that way, his hateful and racist ideas will be yanked off the air!

I used to watch CNN a lot but would switch to MSNBC everytime Lou gets on.. but then I realized that if he's on CNN, that means CNN tolerates his kind of thinking -- and since then, my TV at night doesn't go anywhere else but MSNBC. You just gotta love Keith and Rachel! Ed and Chris are great too!

Reason why FOX ratings is so high? It's because they're the only hardcore right-wing media.. they have all the right-wing crowd, but the opposite crowd is divided into several networks.. thus, MSNBC's rating is not that high --- tho I bet MSNBC's viewers are more educated, more open minded, and generally have more money -- thus you see the difference in commercials and program formats

1. "he has a Mexican wife, therefore he isn't racist" what kind of logic is that? He's a xenophobe and bigot at best. It's like some white would say, "well, I have one black friend....I have one gay friend...so I'm not racist...homophobic" why are some people on here so ignorant?! I watched for 2 straight years and he blamed Hispanics for everything under the sun.

2. He isn't independent, either. He's as conservative as they come. Bill O'reilly calls himself a "traditionalist." it's their way of avoiding the stigma or being labeled right-wing. If this were the 1940-50s, Lou would be that blubbering mayor who holds the bible in one hand, and on the weekends, leads lynching parties. Today they wear suits, appear on tv decrying immigration and adopting populist themes. Some of you seriously need to check your ignorance at the door before coming out to defend him.

Yeah, but how many of those that voted for him (Obama) now regret it?

Not many since he still has record-high approval ratings in the upper 60s.
