Comment on CIR from Robert Gibbs...
His comment is disappointing, but he at least says that the White House would make an effort to win the votes.

On Thursday the President will participate in a service event in Washington. The President will also host a small group of Senate and House members from both sides of the aisle at the White House for an immigration meeting. The meeting is to continue the conversation with the hopes of beginning the debate in earnest later this year. In the evening the President will host a picnic for members of Congress and their families on the South Lawn. And next Friday the President will meet with German Chancellor Merkel here at the White House.

I'm just sick and tired of the mixed message from the White House to Congress on this issue.

Well, if the health care reform debate is any predictor, I don't think CIR is have that much C in it.

We already knew that we don't have 60 votes yet. The Hill reported we have 57 votes with 7 more on the fence. Gibbs said the White House will be working to corral the rest of the votes to reach 60.

Also, on health care, Sen. Baucus's Finance Committee rather disappointing version of health care is just one version. There's also Kennedy/Dodd's HELP Committee version and the unified House version as well as President Obama's people working on it. The fight will be fiercest in conference committee:

Quote:
The move by the House Friday was an effort to reassert itself. "I'm only speaking for the House. We feel very good about this," Miller told HuffPost after the presser.

Waxman dismissed the Senate fumbling. "I'm not getting alarmed by the legislative process," he said. "The Senate Finance Committee can't pass a bill into law without us. We can't pass one without the Senate. And we can't, either of us, do it together without the president."

Ultimately, the final negotiations will go on in a conference committee between the two chambers, and Miller said his body hopes to take the fight there. "We hope to take it to conference committee," he said.

If the conference committee emerged with a public plan intact, it would force Senate Republicans and conservative Democrats to take a stand for or against health care reform.

Where is my "Dream act or bust" sign ?

Not too surprising to say the least, there is a huge difference between potential votes[for CIR] & solid support[Dream act].

what else you can do? besides, watch them play with our emotions. i gotta be honest its not like we cant find jobs, degrees etc elsewhere. we are attached to this coutry and culture in a way that we feel like we need to be part of it. i can almost say even though i am not a citizen but i feel like i am. not on papers of course. i dont really have a memory of back home but i sure will. if thats whats best for me.
