This website on its homepage gives the number of Senators willing to pass the Dream act along with those opposed and undecided.

Does anyone have solid numbers as to the # of Senators pro CIR and can they kindly post here ?! Please note that some senators opposed to Dream Act said that they will consider it only if its a part of a CIR bill, hence if I may be correct to say that the information on the homepage could be slightly off.

Thanks again

Not trying to be too optimistic but i feel we have a few more than 53. Lately both democrats and the republicans have been working close together backdoor on immigration. The GOP have come to realize how important the Latino vote is and the democrats have been doing well lately to work with them on border security and work enforcement bills. Just last week the Obama administration was credited for taking first steps with ICE to crack down on Illegal work enforcement, I feel more optimistic this year than i have ever been on this bill or CIR. Past enforcement activity during the Bush administration was raids where hundreds of illegal immigrants were rounded up detained and then they were all deported. Under Obama, instead of deporting all of them their just gonna track them all down and fire them. Which means the republicans are soon going to run out of reasons. In other words they cannot say the democrats and the Obama administration are not willing to enforce law before and CIR. There is a basic understanding between both parties that deporting 10 to 15 million people are unlikely.

I predict if CIR fails end of this year. Which i highly doubt it wont pass. Durbin will still bring the dream act up, and under obama people like Pryor, Dorgan, McCaskill, Lincoln, Nelson, Bennet, Hagen, Byrd and Baucus wouldn't say "Ney" So far they have all been working so close with Obama and i don't think they will vote against him especially on the Dream Act since he made all of us a promise that he was gonna work hard to pass it. Plus don't forget the republican support Snowe, McCain, Lugar, Hatch, Collins and Martinez. So if it continues the way you see it, there will be nothing but light at the end of the tunnel. I feel we have the majority its always not 60 votes we need but the majority of votes in the senate 2/3 to pass this bill which i feel we have.

Whats working against us is not republicans but TIME. So basically all i could say to you is be prepared to CELEBRATE late this year or early next.

So, I decided to spend some time on this and come up with a list of senators Pro CIR, Anti CIR and those wavering in the middle that would want some sort of enforcement in place before they consider CIR passage. I have given those senators the benefit of doubt and included them with the senators that would be likely to pass CIR with all sorts of Draconian measures in place which would leave them no excuse to deny a CIR bill. As an example, this list assumes including Senator ‘Sessions’ as a probable for passing CIR since his website states that any meaning passage of CIR would have to deal with enforcement first.

Unfortunately, even in the best case scenario there is a long list of senators that would be against a CIR in any shape or form. Below is an unfortunately long list of senators. We need 60 senate votes to pass CIR. If any news article or inside news comes about these senators switching stance due to lobbyists or pressure from within party please link news so I can update this list.
Thanks

Senators Against CIR: (34 total)
Saxby Chambliss (R) – Georgia
Mike Crapo (R) – Idaho

LMAO, you have sessions as a probable yes vote, yet you have susan collins, jeff bingaham, olympia snow, John rockefeller, Bernard sanders. Claire Mckaskill, evan bayh, jeff merkley, Tim Johnson as against CIR? You must be kidding me.

Fyi, Jeff bingaham and Claire Mckaskill are both co-sponsors s.9 ( CIR placeholder). I would also put John Cornyn, George Voinovich, Ben Nelson, Kay hutchinson, Max baucus (since he voted for the 2006 bill) as probable yea votes on a cloture vote.

Can you atleast explain why these senators are expected to vote any differnet than last time when the bil was around in 2007 ?
The immigration bill in 2007 was a huge mess imo, it didn't go through the normal committe process etc. Like i said, jeff bingaham and claire mccaskill are co-sponsors of S.9. Bernie sanders voted against CIR because of Union opposition to the guest worker program, but Charles Schumer has indicated that the unions and business lobby will be able to come to agreement on a new guest worker program. I believe that full union backing of any new CIR bill will cause Bernie sanders, Barbara boxer ( she voted against the 2007 CIR bill), Bayh and other "union minded "dems to vote yes on a new CIR bill.

S.9
Title: A bill to strengthen the United States economy, provide for more effective border and employment enforcement, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Sen Reid, Harry [NV] (introduced 1/6/2009) Cosponsors (13)
Latest Major Action: 1/7/2009 Read the second time. Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders. Calendar No. 9.

Sen Begich, Mark [AK] - 1/6/2009
Sen Bingaman, Jeff [NM] - 1/6/2009
Sen Boxer, Barbara [CA] - 1/6/2009
Sen Brown, Sherrod [OH] - 1/7/2009
Sen Durbin, Richard [IL] - 1/6/2009
Sen Kennedy, Edward M. [MA] - 1/6/2009
Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] - 1/6/2009
Sen Klobuchar, Amy [MN] - 1/6/2009
Sen Leahy, Patrick J. [VT] - 1/6/2009
Sen Levin, Carl [MI] - 1/6/2009
Sen Lieberman, Joseph I. [CT] - 1/6/2009
Sen McCaskill, Claire [MO] - 1/6/2009
Sen Schumer, Charles E. [NY] - 1/6/2009

Btw, jeff merkley is a democrat not a republican and no offense, but you probably don't know much about immigration politics if you think Jeff Sessions(regardless of what he claims on his site) is EVER going to vote for a plan that legalizes the undocumented.
