Read with caution:

I'm not saying that, I don't support, nor I wont fight for the dream act anymore, but I just don't seem to care much for it anymore.

Before, especially in the late 07 up until Obama got elected, I was madly obsessed with the Dream Act. I was on this site everyday, checking every new article, hoping and praying that the dream act finally catches fire. But, here we are, still waiting.

I became really passionate about politics, during this time period, I probably learned more about how our government system worked, and how all the political bickering, etc, by watching CSPAN, and reading this site, than I did with my government class.

But yeah, I just realized that, it doesn't mean that I am illegal that I can't live my life. All I'm saying is, fuck all the naysayers. No one can stop me, I haven't been this motivated like this in so long.I fully believe that God gave me this challenge, so I can conquer it, and learn from it. I will accomplish my dreams, with or without this bill.

I love you guys.

Thats my kind of talking
I am glad you have removed much of the fear you may have had....I hope many others do the same. I once allowed being helpless drown me in a sea of despair.....but once I began researching some history and began educating myself, my positive outlook mentality immensely increased.

I'm glad you decided to look at life like that. Keep it up, and you'll that once you start looking at the bright side of things, suddenly, the world becomes a much better place.

I used to be truly afraid of the law and what not as a result of being a perfectionist. What I've come to realize is that the "undocumented immigrant" title is nothing more than a synonym for self-defeating behavior. I don't usually like to sound like an optimist because I am more of a realist (cool word for pessimistic) but the truth is that as long as one keeps adding self-imposed barriers to the road ahead one won't get anywhere. Review your personal beliefs and paradigms and look for other ways to get where you want to get.

Don't rely on this act to accomplish your goals because you might get deeply disappointed. Our lives may be limited now but who says other people's lives which we assume to be fulfilling aren't? Just look at drug addicts or 9-5 white collar workers with undesirable jobs. Each one of us sacrifices something to get to that happy place but what most people fail to notice is that the opportunity to be happy is always present, it's just that the struggle to get to that place creates the illusion of sorrow. Regardless of the situation one is stuck in one should be grateful for at least having the chance to change things for the better.

If one has no absolute barriers that will not let one move forward then there's no reason to give up and quit. Only the shame resultant of considering oneself inferior to others due to the lack of social security can kill one's efforts to keep fighting in this country, but then that's a very toxic personal choice. It took me a long time to realize this. I couldn't understand why other individuals in my same situation could go on with their lives, it wasn't because they were more clever or careless. It all came down to accepting that some things are simply beyond my control, realizing that the legal system is flawed and some rules are meant to be broken, and going with the flow of things.

If you are planning to leave this country soon as a result of your limitations invest all your energy in the mean time trying to get past your problem of utmost importance. Whether it is going to college and moving to a different state, getting that job you really need using a sake focial, or moving on with your life and marrying your friend. For those of you who are extremely depressed and even suicidal, instead of giving up on life you can say "fukc it" and dare to take risks, what's there to lose by trying anyway?

Btw, if you want to see how messed up I was check out my previous posts. Things can always get better but at the current rate it could take ages, take control of your life now and get on the path to become the person who you want to be. [End of late night infomercial voice LOL]

I too say fuck all the naysayers.

I'm not relying completely on the Dream Act to accomplish my goals. The minute you stop too, you will feel relieved. I think we all need a plan B. That said, I must admit my efforts have slowed down too. After the bill was introduced in March I thought this is it. That it would just pass already. But it hasn't, and talk about immigration reform continues to be slow. So we're waiting, but by no means am I keeping my life on hold to wait for the DA to pass. Life's too damn short.

^^ That's how I see it too. While I still hope for and care about the Dream Act, recently I've begun to realize that I cannot put my life on hold any longer while I sit here and wait for it to pass. Maybe it's because I am getting older and I'm starting to understand life a little better, or maybe I am just tired of watching great opportunities pass me by. Either way, I know that I need to consider other options or at least do as much as I can with the limitations caused by this situation. Truth is, I used to have so much confidence in the Dream Act and I believed all the pretty words that came out of Obama's mouth. I still have hope, but with each day that hope starts to fade.

That is exactly how I feel as well! I used to come to this forum every single day and I used to be so passionate about the DREAM Act but now I really just don't care anymore.
