I'm in dire need of money, and I was wondering how any one of us could get a job.

I came to the US when I was 2 months old, and somehow my dad lost sponsorship for his greencard. Somehow, my entire family does have their own unique SSN. I don't think it was illegitimately obtained, as the process a long time ago was a bit different. My older sister uses her SSN to file taxes and work, and I was wondering how I could get a job. She herself spoke directly to her employer and he understands.

I was trying to apply for a job recently online, and it asked me what my status in the US was. I don't think I could write "undocumented immigrant" or lie that I am a US citizen. Is there any sugarcoated euphemism I could use? I'm taking a year off from school due to the poor economic conditions ($45,000+ USD private school expenses are a bit hard for my family to obtain right now), and I need to support myself on the other side of the country (originally from the west coast).

Note: Sorry about posting again about a topic greatly discussed. I felt as if I may not find another topic similar (using the search function) as I do have my own SSN.

It doesn't... and it upsets me because I'd rather use it to work at a mentally stimulating job. I'm currently working below minimum wage at a cafe. My bosses treat me poorly, and it gets to me because I'm not working there because I'm stupid. I'm working there because I need money. *whining done*

That sucks, but then again at least you HAVE a job. What I dont understand is how it doesn't say its not valid for employment?

I was going to do agricultural labor but I wasn't able to because of some family issues, now I'm just waiting on my LAST scholarship to come in.

My mother always told me never to compare myself with people who are less fortunate than I am. Apparently that would lower my standards and goals. In our native language, she asked me, "Why would you want to compare yourself with dog sh**? Are you dog sh**?" Apparently looking upwards is the way to go, and so I'm not really satisfied with "having a job." Ridicule and curse at me please...

My social security card says that I can work with INS authorization, but it doesn't state that I am not qualified for work at all. Is this different from your SSN?
