the student loans is a very questionable matter right now. The Sallie Mae Loan that people in our status have been able to apply for in the past is no longer avilable, and so are some other loans mostly due to the state of our economy. There are a few loans that may have some potential, I suggest that you visit the respective thread, it has a sticky in the Lounge, there you will be able to read up on the current status of loans.

As for applying to college using your ITIN, I would suggest that if you have the ability to leave the ssn portion blank leave it blank. You should call the schools that you are applying to and inform them of your status, so they can inform you of how to go through with the application process. Usually they will tell you to apply as an international student, in which case they would probably not ask you for a ssn. However, that really depends on the universities. I have been told to apply as a domestic in some places and others as an international student.

its unfortunate but true.

I am however in the process of applying for the usbank loan located at:
https://www2.usbank.com/cgi_w2/cfm/s...ype=NOFEE&SID=

for the driver's license portion just put the name of the state you reside in field provided for the license number (called in they told me to put that, so you do not need a driver's license), and they will accep the ITIN instead of the ssn. The co-signer has to be a resident or citizen... obviously. best chance I have found so far for a student loan.
