Does anyone here suffer from loneliness and depression? Unfortunately I only have a GED, I cant get a job, I cant afford school. I have absolutely no friends in the world, Ive lost all contact with my former friends, they were in my home country of trinidad. I left home almost 10 years ago, and my life has been completely horrible, I never thought it could be this bad. Am I alone here or is this sort of life common? I hardly ever go out, I just stay in my room and surf the internet all day. Over the years Ive accumulated alot of mentals stresses like anxiety, depression etc, does anyone have any similar experiences?

heyy I think a lot of suffer from some sort of negativity. Personally, i don't believe I've ever been in a "depressed" state because i don't really believe in depression (sort of hard to explain). To explain a little, I think it's all about your mind. What many of us don't understand is that when we tell ourselves "No, I can't", "No, this won't happen to me", "No, this only happens in movies", etc ...this affects us. Soooo, if negativity affects us.. then why not be positive and let that affect us? I'm not saying be happy all the time. But you have to know that you do have some power over your life. Even if you don't have a job or go to school, work hard and never stop pursuing what you want. Because sometime, whether its now or later, a door (or window) will open.

Stay positive!!!!!!! Many people here have done great things, why not you?

I know exactly what you're going through. I can only suggest seeing the good things in your life, and letting them support you in your time of hopelessness. Depression can be beaten. Good luck.

and indeed it can...

I went through a bout of severe anxiety which developed to severe depression and manifested itself right by the end of my third semester of college.

Talk to a psychologists, they should be able to help. Drug prescriptions is something that I do not trust and its really for the lazy people, sessions have been shown to provide as much support or greater then medicine and its something that stays with you forever, in other words, a prescription might be taken away, or it might not work well after some time and then you are in trouble but the lessons learned during the sessions are not. Generally it is suggested that you go within the first year from when you realize that you are facing depression in order to prevent more long term effects.

and some trivia, the majority of people deal with depression at some point in their lives, whether they realize it or not.

source: Psyc 303 (abnormal psychology), psyc 301 (brain, mind and behavioral psychology), and my own personal experience.

ive been severely depressed ever since i left high school, ive only had one job and i havent had any friends at all, thats 7 years now. i tried to get help, but its too expensive with no insurance and i cant get to free places where i live. Everyday I suffer panic attacks, at this point I just live with it, it sucks.

I think it happens to almost all of us. I feel the loneliness/depression every once in a while. Like you, I have lost almost if not all of my friends. Cant really say that I have that one close friend because I don't. I tend to avoid a lot of people because I am not in the mood to explain them my situation and what not. Even those that know my situation are hardly ever around, but yeah its hard.

Hi there , I agree, I believe every one of us here in this forum have suffered from some symptoms of depression and anxiety. When I was going through depression myself I hadn't really known until my friend pointed out to me the symptoms .. I used to lock myself in my room and didn't attend school for about two months and almoat didn't graduate. But I was able to bounce back up.. Even though I have friends I still feel like I'm alone because they don't know the real me, they always question why I don't drive or things like that and I always have to make up an excuse , I seriously feel like my. Life is a constant lie..so maybe it isn't that bad that you don't have many friends because they really are more stress to me than help sometimes.. Anyways I still go through a bit of depression, there are days where thinking about my situation just hits me harder than the usual, I'm so sorry that you or any of us have to go through what we have to go through if you happen to live in north california pm me, I would love to sit down and talk to u and share stories. Keep praying and searching for something bigger everything will unfold like it should somehow or someway. Godbless

..I can totally relate with you..I also cant have/find a job or afford college ..fortunately i do have a few friends I can count on and understand my situation..so if I were you Id start there, make new friends.we all need a shoulder to lean on..also what I try to do is not think about it..go outside, go to the park breathe in fresh air..relax..listen to music..pick up a hobby..reading a book is also good, go to the library (totally recommend it)..and if there is one go to your local zoo..or do volunteer work if possible..watch movies..and u can also try to self teach yourself on areas that correspond to a subject you want to major in college...youll get thru this..stay positive..
