This article gives its own preview of the legislative calender, which by chance includes immigration. The more important aspect is highlighted.
Quote:
It is becoming increasingly unlikely that climate change, immigration, union organizing and financial reform legislation will reach the Senate floor before 2010. Democrats may be unwilling or able to move the legislation in 2010 in what is shaping up to be a tough election year with the mid-term Congressional elections coming in November of 2010.

There will be a slight window in the early months of 2010, but with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) facing his own tough re-election, he could devote the months before the election on smaller, more popular measures
. Immigration reform advocates in the Senate have already admitted that immigration legislation will not occur until 2010.

The votes don’t appear to be there to pass climate change, even with Senators unveiling their long-awaited bill this week. The only legislation on the horizon that might reach the Senate floor before the end of 2009 could be a financial regulatory reform bill because it is not considered likely to cause particularly hard votes.
We shall see if this is true but considering the Democrats need to showcase they can govern there might not be any choice, especially with a potentially tough election year.

Wait only a "slight window"?

Am I the only one infuriated by this?

If that is in fact the case, does DREAM or anything similar seem more likely to be passed as a stand alone? Or does that leave us up the proverbial creek without a paddle (at least until 2011 anyway)?

I'm trying to stay positive about this entire thing, but damn if these kinds of articles don't mess with your head.

I'm pretty sure all of us are disappointed about all the "promises," and every one telling us "Oh, don't worry next year. It has to pass." Pffttt... Haha makes you angry eh?
