He said the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act will be part of a reform package that aims to improve the immigration laws in the country.

"Yes, it will all be incorporated in one bill," he added during a telephone interview last week.
Fack... Why can't he just pass it as a stand-alone bill?

Sorry I misspelled Reid's name. I can't correct it now though.

Is it possible that Congress just wants immigration reform to be over with in one fell swoop?
Getting CIR and DREAM passed separately means more time needs to be spent discussing it.

All I know is that
It. Better. Pass.
I don't care how it's gonna pass, but it better pass.

Now, does everyone understand why I'm so f****ing pissed off at Democrats? Next year is an election year, and God help me for our own good, I hope I'm wrong, but a lot of them are expected to wimp out AS USUAL, and backtrack on immigration. We have no better example than our President. I very much hope that we can pressure them to vote on DA this year.

Besides, Reid said that he was "committed to passing immigration reform legislation this year" back in March. Aha. Some of us cannot afford to wait.
F**ck that s**t. Sick, sick, sick, of obstructionist democrats who join the racists (and I use the term loosely here Republicans; I think many of you are beyond the scale of a racist) and betray their party in bad faith. Oh my God, I'm going to log off now before I have a heart attack. I can feel the blood pressure beginning to rise.

I'm not worried about it, DREAM will come up as a stand alone bill next year. When Reid and the Democrats sees the political climate next year after this health care bill passes, they will have no choice but to pass smaller bills during an election and census year.

I completely agree - I don't care how as long as it gets passed.
Really bothers me how some people on the forum are so close minded that it's almost to the point that they can't possibly support a CIR bill that would include the Dream Act. I guess it's just desperation

I don't see how the fact that it's a census year will help DA.
If anything that will help CIR

Yes, next year is an election year but we still have to fight for reform. And please, someone correct me here, but aren't senate elections every 2 years

What? Give me a break. My utmost hope is that DREAM is passed into law by the beginning of 2010, if not I will be one fuming college student ready to make something happen for real.

The reality is that it will get worse before it gets better. I think Obama will reform immigration but look at what is going on with his health care ideas (they are being taken into pieces). There will probably not be a big amnesty style reform, but there might be more options for people who have been here to legalize their status (DREAM Act looks the most reasonable to me). We need to be patient, this issue was already debated in 2007 very heavily.

^^^Those were different Politicians.
Trust me, It wont be as easy to debate, and it wont be as hard to drop. So in limbo we shall stand, and with faith, we shall place our fates in the hands of these incompetent decision makers.
But either way, FAWK!!! Should i go pack now? or wait till january?
