Hi I'm a new member to this. well, I was brought to the United States when I was 10 years old and I just graduated High School and I have been trying to get a job but everyone seems to check the ssn because nobody calls me. I have always dreamed of going to Chicago University but right now I can't even afford a community college. I'm so tired of this racist people that I having seriously of returning to Mexico soon. I want to become an FBI agent or an actor. I see other young people that have cars and I just can't buy one because I don't have any money. I seriously don't know what to do. please give me some advice.

Most of us are in the same boat.. I know it sucks but there is not much we can do at this time... (apart from educating people about CIR and the dream act)

I would say returning back to your country may not be the smartest idea right now. I would recommend sticking it out for a yr or two.. HOPEFULLY some bill related to immigration will pass.

I know its not much to lean back on but its the best we have right now..

DO NOT return right now. Reform is coming soon, and we have to wait for the results, at least until towards the end of 2010. Wait it out for at least a year or two. If nothing happens and reform fails, then going back would be a good option.

I just graduated as well, been here 9 years. I think that's if nothing passes by the end of next year, it's probably better for us to go back. The standard of living might not be great, but you need to live a normal life you know. There's people that have graduated 10 years ago and are still waiting on a bill to pass.

If nothing passes by then and you want to go back, you tried but you have to move on
So if you can sustain yourself for a year or so, you really should stay.

Do not go back. You're toying with the rest of your life here. You're poor and can't afford a while everybody around you is living it up. It sucks... but imagine you go back and you won't even have what you have right now. You think going back opens a lot of doors for you but it also closes a lot of doors.

Amen. Set a time for yourself.. if the dream act doesnt pass and nothing changes? Im going home in this time period. Seriously I understand we gotta live our lives.. Cant wait here forever. The best yrs is when your a teenager and in your 20's and you cant even enjoy it to the fullest extent. I have set a time for myself... By next yr around march.. if nothing changes? peace out.

me and my husband are thinking of the same thing too....if in 2 yrs nothing gets passed were leaving even if that means taking our 1 yr old's opportunities away. Anyaway, most of us speak and write english fluently that would be a big plus overthere..

p.s. I've been here well over 13 yrs this sucks!

If you feel like you can take it, stick it out for at least two years.
Set a deadline for yourself, though.

I'm on the same boat -- I'm in my senior year of high school and having all sorts of worries and concerns about college and real life in general. I plan to stay here, and if by the time I'm 20, nothing has changed, I'm finding someone to marry.
