Are there any states that are really lenient with their drivers license laws?
i'm 17, i have my ssn, drivers permit and a certified birth certificate, but no legal proof of status like a lot of states need. and my fam wont let me drive w/o one or get me a fake one. which is stupid cos they didnt have a problem bringing me to america w/o documents.
and also my ss card says that INS needs to be contacted in order for the number to be used.
any info would be great.

is new york a good state...?

First you should contact ssn services. But I don't why you are having problems getting your license. I mean you have your ssn, a drivers permit and your birth certificate, I am guessing you live with your parents, that should be proof of your adress. I think its a matter of going to your local DMV show your documents and ask what else you need and get those documents. I do not think you should have a problem.

Well in C.A. I was able to get my license. I have a social that says, "INS Authorization for work" and when i went to the DMV to get my driver license they required my birth certificate from country of birth as well as any proof that i was legal. So most likely they are going to require that you provide proof of your legal status if you apply for your license using that social. So I do not know how a lot of people do it without any social or anything like that. What state do you live in?

i almost got my license here w/ my birth certificate but the names on my ss card and my other documents dont match
but my sister thinks i didnt get it because of my ss card have the INS authorization thing on it., like yours does she thinks that the computer didnt take my number cause of that. i think its cause the names dont match.

btw, when did you get your license?
cause requirements have gotten stricter recently.

and what did you give them for proof you were legal?

You don't have to show you SS Card at all just give them the number

These are the states that my Undoc friends with valid SS got their license from

Illinois

Texas

States that give licences without SSN or Legal Presence docs

Washington
*New Mexico
*Hawaii <-- obviously risky to travel.
*Utah (Driving Privilege card )

*NOT SURE IF STATE HAS CHANGE POLICY ON REQUIRING SS OR LEGAL PRESENCE DOCS

Yeah. The policy for Washington and New Mexico has not changed yet. Hopefully it doesn't cause I'm planning on going next year to get my license if DA doesn't pass by then. Also, if you go to one of those states mentioned, you have to show proof that you live there.

is it only those four states though?
the only thing stopping me from getting a license from those places is that i dont have anyones adress i could use.
i only have family in cali, florida, new jersey and illinois.
