hey, i'm going to be turning 21 in about 3 months and of course i have no driver's license or US identification. how do you guys deal with going out with a group of people to bars or clubs and whatnot? i'm dreading it. my boyfriend and his friends go to the bars a lot. i'm afraid that once i'm 21, they'll want to go to the bars with me and i only have my passport. and to be realistic, i'm not going to tell all of my boyfriend's friends that i'm undocumented. how do you guys deal?

All I have is my matricula, and when I go to bars/clubs I would always try to go in at a different time than the people I was with so that they would not see me showing the matricula. I remember when I was dating a guy a while back, we were going to a club and I told him that I needed to make a phone call and that I would just meet him inside.

Now what I do is put my matricula in the ID pocket (the clear one) of my wallet and just show the door person my ID like that. This way I can go in with my friends and they don't have to see what kind of ID I'm showing, since my wallet will cover it up. Oh, and I PRAY that the door person doesn't give me a hard time about it, lol. I just went to two different bars this past weekend and did this and nobody said anything.

Plus, if you are a girl the door people are less likely to give you a hard time! Especially if you are cute

How funny you mention that, I have also noticed that door people give us girls less of a hard time.
