Hmm I think you should stick with your parents' car. First, you don't have a job. Secondly, you don't have the money to pay for your insurance, gas and other uilities. Oh I really mean the first thing.

Getting a job? You just have to search on my man. If you are an undocumented, look for some deli stores or something like that.

If you only want to job for a car, then my best words: better yet, don't get one.

I would rather save those times and do well in school and get some research positions.

Ditto. Sound advice about the car. However, if you have any special skills do try to find a job that uses them at least to some extent - that will keep you sane for longer.

Why are you driving? I'm assuming you're undocumented, and unless you have a driver's license from one of the open minded states, the last thing you wanna be doing is driving.

Mind you I am only assuming you're undocumented because, obviously look where you are, and you are looking for job ideas here.

Well I'll list you some of the best places with "open minded" people if you catch my drift.

Restaurants : busboy/waiter/bartender
[High pay--Long hours--Got to look neat]
Note: Start out as a busboy and work your way up, doesn't take much to do the work(busboy). If you ever been to a restaurant you've seen someone clear the tables for your next dish to come in. That could be your job. But in either position, be ready to work for 10-13 hours straight
Pay: 50-150 a day

Construction Work : helper/handyman
[Wake up early--Lot of physical/weight-lift work--Knowledge of tools]
Note: Not for the fainthearted, if you can't deal with carrying weights and going up nose bleed heights from the ground just to put some screws in some beam, the job aint for you.
Pay:70-100 a day

Dog Walking : self employment
[Wake up early--Got to like dogs--Be able to commit)
Note: Walking dogs rock, I do it =) But I'm lucky New York if full of dogs. You obviously need to be somewhere where people are lazy and they have lots of dogs, so they can pay you to walk em. But its not that easy, you have to commit to those dogs because finding new customers is hard. Could take 1 day to 1 month, even in a city with 20 million people.
Pay: 60-400 per week (Depends on how many dogs you have and pay is weekly)

Idk what else to tell you, anything else I can think of you will have to breach the legal system and work illegally(well you would be with either of these technically, anyways.) except the dog walking thing hehe that's self employment.)

p.s. I'm very paranoid when it comes to "risky" things like driving. Honestly now a days the way ICE is cracking down on people, like the dude who hit the Canadian border by mistake in a car which he wasn't even driving. I think driving even with a New Mexico license(especially when your in a state far the fuck away from NM) is just not the best idea.

I babysit and make pretty good $$, but it's never enough to pay for insurance or for a car (I'm in school full time and I volunteer as well). I've heard that working in restaurants is fairly easy for people like us, especially if it's a family-owned restaurant.

Good luck with your search!

Oh ya babysitting is an ideal one for girls that is, it's kinda tough to pull that one as a guy. Cleaning houses as well... more for females, although males could find a lot of janitor work. But janitor work and general labor is usually unisex.

Tutoring is a great job, if you have like 50 bucks you can join tutornation.com, ive gotten a few jobs from there, each lasted at least a year, as long as you can help kids do their hw, its a pretty easy and safe way to go.
