Brown Won NO IMMIGRATION REFORM

grrrr makes me mad that Mass Sen Candidate Scott Brown won...now the democrats dont have any power in the senate.... EVERY FKNG time something has to FKN come up! Man i dont know what to say about policiticians. I am starting to loose my hope for the CIR to pass.....they are just playing with us.

I think your title is stupid and misleading considering you know nothing of what the future holds.

This is the least of the problems immigration will never ever pass on a one party vote they need to work together for something to happen.

Although I'm as much frustrated as every one of you, I should mention one thing in Democrats' defense. Unlike the Republicans in the Congress who are mostly conservatives, the Democratic Congressmen/women come from all the political spectrum. It's easy to hear "conservative Democrats", whereas it's very rare to hear "liberal Republicans" in the news. It is really difficult for the Congressional Democrats to reach a consensus on any issue. Moreover, there are far more conservatives in this country. The Democrats have had a political disadvantage. Also, the Democrats spent too much political capital on the health care reform bill last year. They should have made a clear agreement among themselves before introducing any bill. Then, they might have passed it before their October deadline. Anyway, it's over. But, the health care reform bill will probably pass despite today's loss. The Democrats will find a way to get around and end this endless debate quite soon.

The problem is not having one more Republican in the Senate and one less vote for the immigration reform bill or the DREAM Act. If the Democrats can persuade some moderate or pro-immigration Republicans in the Senate, they will be able to pass it regardless their loss today. And, seriously, they had less Senate seats in 2007 although you might argue 2007 was not an election year. The actual problem is that the Democratic leadership is likely to "retreat" and to become more relucant to pursue immigration reform than ever. They will try to woo the public by focusing on the economy and jobs and abandoning plans to push controversial legislation like the cap-and-trade portion of the climate change bill and, possibly, the immigration reform bill.

But, we should not despair. There was no great or greater time for the passage of an immigration reform bill. It has always been either "not enough votes" or "elections". And, there won't be any greater time.

The best scenario for us would be the Senate passing an immigration bill soon (probably April or May) and the House passing it after the mid-term election, but I don't know the Democratic leaders' plan. I highly doubt that immigration reform is currently in their minds. It's all about health care and jobs.

What Brown is going to end up doing is killing Health Care Reform.

I don't think everything is lost. The power democrats had was never there. So, why cry over one seat lost.

Democrats were the majority, but they were never the "people in charge" of the country. Just look at Obama, negotiating for everything. Neither he or the democrats can't get this health care reform thing passed even when it is for the good of the country.

When Bush wanted to go to war, he went to war. It is a pointless, stupid, war where only a few oil companies will benefit from it, but at the end of the day, it is proof that Bush had the balls to do what he wanted to do. Something Obama has yet to prove.

Why do many people assume that 60 Democrats are needed to pass CIR or Dream its not going to happen and by Brown winning in Massachusetts nothing much has changed in order for CIR or Dream Act to pass we need Bi-partisan support as many Democrats are against CIR or Dream Act . That's where Republican Senators like Like Lindsey Graham , John McCain , Richard Lugar,Sam Brownback who have either Supported and or voted for Pro-Immigration bills come into play.
