ok long story short. I am at a lost here. I’m 25 now have been waiting for a for some kind of law that would help people like us. I have been here for 15 years. I lost my father and mother doesn’t want anything to do with me. So I live alone. The only option is that I have is my brother. He can apply for me when he turns 21. He is almost 20. The sibling petition or something. I am an optimistic guy but this is to much. I’m tire of this living paycheck to paycheck. Not living a life here, barely surviving. Or trying to survive. Doing remedial jobs that don’t pay much. So many odd jobs. Substandard and embarrassing at times. I know as long as it pays or its a job I should be thankful. BS lol
I wanted so much in life. But now I am thinking if i still have time. Getting old here. I want to finish school. I have 2 years in it but could not afford to keep going, I know I am not the only one with this problems. My question is what keep you guys going??? I am lost and giving up little by little. Feel like I am loosing myself. Thought about going to my home country but don’t know anyone there. I don’t even know what is my status. Feel so alone at times like no one understands. Just glad some of you know what I’m talking about.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I'm 24 turning 25 this year, I've been here since I was 4 years old. I feel extremely frustrated and depressed sometimes (A LOT OF THE TIME). What keeps me going is different things. One is that I'm human and I deserve more than what is being given to us. I have very supportive people in my life thankfully which helps. Also looking for opportunities. You have to make opportunities out of thin air almost and the most impossible things happen sometimes, so have faith. That's the only thing I have is faith that something will change. Out of the darkest times the most light comes from it so. That's not to say that there aren't any times that I don't fall apart because I do. But I have to pick myself up ASAP because what's the point of just crying or giving up nothing.

Anyway PM if you need to chat =)

Man, it's sad to see so many threads like this. I'm also 24 and there's hardly a day that goes by where I don't look back at my life and think that I could be doing so much more. Anger, frustration, followed by tears at my absolute helplessness is a cycle I go through almost everyday. Sometimes in addition to that cycle, I'm filled with hope for a better future, a future where I'll be able to live a life on my own terms. I have been here for 13 years and I refuse to give up. Hang in there.

On a side note, there are some really great people on this forum. It would be nice if we could just all meet and vent one day.

I'm 22 and I feel you. It's very frustrating. To varientdoctor, not to bring your hopes down, just be realistic with you...My older sister petitioned for me back in 2003, and my mom petitioned for me back in 2006 as a permanent resident (she's gonna be a citizen this year)..And just as I felt I was finally gonna get what I needed...I discovered visa overstays are not allowed to adjust status in the US. My only option would be to leave..And I would be subject to a ten year bar. My advice to you is to hang in there! Look for options..Weather it be stay here and hope the dream act passes...Or you can move and still have your brother apply for you, the process takes close to ten years through a sibling, as long as you are not from Mexico, China, Phillapines or China those countries have back logs of up to 20 years in some cases..If you are not from any of those you may want to consider moving elsewhere and by the time your petition became current (allowed you to apply for a green card) you would've already served your ten year bar restriction, and could come back legally.

I'm glad I found this forum and can talk to other with my situation. It's not easy to watch our lives pass without being able to do much. : (

Hang in there, man. I have been in the U.S for 14 years, but I have never lost hope. One day, hopefully soon, things will change. What keeps me strong? Perhaps, my desire to succeed in life. I can't believe the U.S in wasting all of us, practically a whole generation of educated latinos, as a result of a broken immigration system. Keep it up.

Really? I just learned that if you entered legally (i.e. a tourist visa), visa overstays are actually allowed to adjust staus in the US. You don't have to return to your home country while your petiton is pending.
