I'm sure we can ALL agree with the frustration our situation has on day to day life. What do you think the chances of the Dream Act getting passed really are? I personally am confused as hell..And don't wanna jump the gun and do something drastic like moving overseas just to turn on the Tv and find out the Dream Act has passed after I leave.

I first heard of the Dream Act in 2006.

So there's definitly been debate on this topic for quiet a few years.

I really don't know how much longer I can "wait" around. I feel I have no life..And this is NOT how I wanna live. So getting your opinions may make me be more realistic about the likelihood of DA ever getting passed..I just don't wanna regret leaving and then it were to pass.

Let me know your thoughts.

i say wait till at least the end of this year.. dream act is not going to be discussed until cir is brought up and voted on, the cir includes the dream act. so if cir doesn't pass then the chances of dream act passing as a stand alone bill r pretty high. the reason why they don't push dream act right now by itself is because then cir won't have a chance to pass at all. we still have to wait to see if cir is even going to be debated this year though.. some people say yes some say no. as for me i don't know.

ps. its ari88 im logged on under my bfs sn

I say follow your dreams ,and from my understanding most of us dreamers are above average, so we can figure out a way to make our dreams possible anywhere. If we really want the DA to pass we going to have to put the work,i believe, we all understand that, but if you feel that it is time to move on, then maybe you are right.

yeah it is very frustating that we are waiting for them to make this decision that will affect all of us. And most of us are helpless, all we can do is wait. just when we think we are getting close, something happens. their attention is diverted. i am also a bit tire of waiting. also ask myself if they dont want me to succeed here there must be a place where i will be given the chance. All we ask is for a chance. But yeah it would suck if you leave and the dream act is passed. Does any one know what are our options to help our cause or influece this cause.
im new here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all we are doing here is venting. Yeah because sometimes i feel like i cant wait any longer im afraid i might do something destructive, since i cant do something constructive. hope thats just me....

Personally, I set a deadline of Summer 2011. I tell myself everyday that my life has been on hold long enough. I am 28, turning 29 this July. I will definitely not turn 30 living Undocumented in this country.

In the mean time I do have a decent job, am in college and although I am frustrated about how life hasn't turned out exactly how I thought it would, at least I gave myself some peace of mind by setting a deadline instead of hanging to hope for ever.

What am I planning to do? I'm not sure exactly but given my options I could either, go back to Venezuela even though I never lived there, go to Dominican Republic where I could become a citizen since my mother is from there, or Travel to France and join The French Foreign Legion which I have researched to no end, and gotten physically ready for. I train Six days a week just to make sure when I get there if/when the time comes I don't get rejected. And before anyone preaches to me about the dangers of The Legion, I rather die trying for a better life than to leave a full life subjected to poverty in a mismanaged country.

yeah id wait to see if CIR/DA is brought up in congress first. maximum this year for me as well although i would definitely be so mad at myself if it is brought up a year later.

i was looking into going to mexico to teach but friends over there tell me they get paid very little and its hard to get a job without any influences. so i dont know. :[

Now that's an interesting date. There are some politicians telling us there will be no reform in 2010. In the year 2011, there are no congressional elections. It also the year before the presidential election. Very interesting. I look forward to seeing what happens during 2011 if we don't see any debates this year. Of course, we then have 2012 where President Obama will try and gain all of our support once again. Interesting indeed.

To answer the original poster's question, it's hard to say. I would like to think the Dream act has a chance of passing either this year, or next, but there are many factors that play a role in determining the outcome of a bill. What led me to this conclusion? Simply the support the Dream act has gathered since the day it was introduced, mainly the support of the President.

How does that work? because I want to join the military and if dream act does not pass thats where I'm going.

Anyone from any nationality can join. You can only join within France. That's your first obstacle, making it to France. Depending on what country you are from, you may or you may not need a visa to get there. Luckily for me, I was born in the new Cuba err, Venezuela and I don't require a Visa for stays of up to 90 days. After 3 years of service, if you survive you can become a French citizen. Which pretty much means you are free to move to any EU member country you damn well please. Your contract upon joining if you are accepted is for 5 years. Anyways, read the link if you are interested.

My cousin joined last March. Although I haven't heard from him in a few months. He says the work is long, hard and tiresome but you do get a decent monthly wage, with basically most expenses covered. Last I heard from him he was somewhere in Southern France.

You poor little thing. I'm so sorry. How about if we talk about this over coffee at my place?
